Stock Pro Fox Shocks

I'm coming over from the sports/muscle car world and have some suspension questions. Plan on getting a 2020 Pro, but may get a Premium depending on availability.

First question.. What makes the Pro's Fox shocks better than the Bilstein's on the premium? I've tried searching and all I get is promotional info from Toyota, no real world accounts.

I don't plan on swapping suspension parts other than maybe some spacers. I do plan on adding an aluminum front bumper, steel rear bumper, and sliders. This brings me to my second question.. will Fox's or Bilstein's be able to handle the additional weight better? And at what point would stiffer springs be recommended?

Engines are my thing, suspension is my weakness. So any input would be appreciated.

 

The premiums don’t come with Bilstein, nothing does (Pro used to a couple years ago). SR5 and TRD Off-Road have the same base model suspension but the off road has optional KDSS. Limited has XREAS suspension where the corners are hydraulicly linked. Pro has a mild suspension upgrade for some entry level fox stuff.

None of them have a suspension good for carrying a bunch of weight.

 

I think a full front bumper would warrant new suspension on any model 4runner. Unless you go aluminum, you’re looking at 100+lbs weighing down the front that you will definitely feel on the ride quality. If you plan on adding armor all around I would just go premium and use the money you “save” to buy superior suspension than the pro and that will offer better performance.

the fox shocks on the Pro are stiffer than the older bilsteins on the Pro. Thats as much as I know.
