Hello, my name is Matt and I am new to the 4Runner community. I recently bought a 98 with the 2.7L 4 cylinder.. I am wondering if it is possible to swap for a V6? Can it be done? Is it worth it? I also want some input on suspension. I've always been I to off roading and would like to be able to take this thing out eventually...nothing crazy, just some mild trails and what not. Thank you!

The swap to a v6 will be involved. Price depends on how much of the work you do yourself. Keep in mind that 4cyl to v6 will require many changes for everything to work. From experience, the little things end up nickel and diming you to death. If you current engine is running well it’s the last thing I would mess with.

If your looking to swap engines from 4 to 6 because you want more power. The v6 can't get out of its own way. Don't get me wrong, the 3.4 liter is a wonderful engine that will last forever, but don't just swap for more power, you will disappointed.

Get a supercharger if you want more power, id suggest finding someone who’s selling the car with one attached. I have a guy here in the Chicagoland area who’s selling the car with the supercharger on Craigslist for like 3600 I believe
