Had a fender bender today. Shit drivers (I’m at fault, though).

Side fender is trashed as is headlight. Wondering if I can get a full bumper replacement out of this...

I had a similar fender bender that costed me $1500 for repairs but the insurance only charged me the $250 deductible.

You cant tell in the picture but the front qtr panel and headlight had to be repaired too so I figure your repairs will be in the same range. Let me know if you have any questions.

Did they fully replace anything or was it all fixable?

nice to have the 250 deductible. I’m one of those people rocking the $1k deductible because Im too gullible to thing it’d be my fault.

So I’m wondering if I should get an estimate from an approved repair shop by my insurance then take it somewhere else? Never had an at fault accident. I’d do it myself if the fender wasn’t involved and didn’t require paint

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Jynarik! Shit happens, eh. Don’t beat yourself up about it, everyone makes mistakes. Even bad experiences make you wiser.
I’d look at all the options for repair. If the air bags didn’t go off and it drives, it won’t be difficult to repair it.

ADV Fiberglass fenders (wider), Alpharex headlights and a hybrid bumper out of the deal? Just trying to make the best of the worst here for you.

Really though - glad it's relatively minor and everyone is okay.

    hmmmm good thinking.
With my 1k deductible I don’t know that it’d be possible. Guess I’ll see what the estimate is tomorrow

Very true! If your local Toyota dealer does bodywork, maybe get a quote there for all OEM parts - might help bump the price up a bit? The Alpharex can be bought for $500 I believe? No idea on those fenders.

Sorry about this but I like your thinking on the new bumper. I have some recent experience.

My son and I were rear ended in my 1990 Porsche. No one was injured and the damage was not horrible. I took photos with my phone and used the Allstate App. They estimated the damage at $2800 and direct deposited the money to my account.

I had to wait three months to get the car into the shop that I want to do the work. I gave him the estimate and he did a full review. Nope, can't get me any more money from the insurance company. He said their estimate was right on the money, unless he finds more damage once he tears things down (he wont, the hit was not that hard). Anyway, I KNEW that if I just had him repair the damage, forever after I would look at the other flaws on the car and say, "Man I should have had that fixed while it was in the shop."

So.... I am having the entire car stripped and sanded and fixed and re-sprayed with a couple of upgrades and modifications. Took a negative and turned it into something I have wanted to do for years.

If you want my advise, start looking for the bumper of your dreams. :)

Yeah, I'd love to have a Desert Runner like that. That's the type of offroading I'm into.

Although these trucks look incredibly real, I think they are just artist renderings. I know they sell fiberglass fenders both front and rear for the 4Runner, but I don't know if they sell any that look that clean. If they do, I'm not aware of them yet.

But it's a great exercise in what a Desert Runner could look like (with a lot of money invested into it). That guy's instagram has some other cool renderings as well.

If you DIY, check eBay. Just read closely whether part is new in box or just like new condition.
I got oem headlight for under $80 and OEM fender under $380 (primered not painted).
There are a few clips and brackets hidden from view that you'll need.

i don’t want to mess with the fender, but I may have them forego the headlight and do just that.

Preliminary virtual estimate came back at $2400. It’ll be more when I point everything g out. Don’t think a new aftermarket bumper will come out of it, though.

in other news, the two teenage girls I hit are claiming injury now. Crock of shit. Parents are telling them to lie.

I wasn’t going anymore than 15mph, and little scraped their car. Their car didn’t even get jolted. Shit like this is why we pay a fortune for insurance. E08BBC83-B9E1-49C0-88A5-CC52D27620A7.jpg

At least you are covered with insurance. A good majority of drivers are uninsured.

Karma will get those girls and their parents in the end.
