Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
I've looked at old topics here or the other T4R forum where the subject came up. It seemed like a bad idea if you're going to daily drive your car with a carbon fiber hood. It doesn't hold up as well as you'd hope it would.

I considered it myself because I've considered lightening the load, not just in the hood, but I'm not going to be doing it anytime soon.

Any chance if you know it was this carbon fiber hood brand? I always thought carbon fiber was known for durability that’s interesting to know!

Carbon holds up just fine, the problem is for whatever reason people like to have 1 totally random colored body panel so they don’t paint it. The coating starts to yellow and oxidize over time if it’s not at least clear coated.

So if I bought this one I have to get it clear coated? Damn that sucks it’s already expensive thought it was ready to go!

If you get one you should have it painted so it matches your vehicle, like you’d do with literally any other body panel.

I feel like weight savings of like 20 to 40 pounds would be cheaper and easier to find elsewhere then an expensive and possibly high maintenance hood. But hey what do I know, I always ask for extra guac without asking the price.

Not sure I see the benefit. I was reading a thread on another site recently about a guy looking for weight savings on a LC and asked if he should pull the front differential. Maybe he was trolling for laughs, but that's definitely a worse idea. But like someone else said, there are many better ways to get a similar weight savings in your vehicle.

A lot more weight can be shed for free rather than spend $1k on a hood which might not even line up right.

Idc about Weight or carbon fiber like most I just want that scooped hood lol
Good to know about the high maintenance of carbon fiber though.

    thanks for the input
Think I’ll save up and hopefully come across a hood.

Too many mods and too much money
My 5th gen is 5980 lbs on a CAT scale. She's a Pig. Not being a family man or having many passengers, I pulled the back seats (50+ lbs) out which took 15 minutes and was free. I have a lot more room for camping gear now and it won't take long to bolt the seats back in when needed. I do like the scoop on the CF hood though.

Has anyone here pulled the trigger on one of these CF Hoods?
