Hey everyone. New buyer, long time 4Runner dreamer here. I read a lot of threads on this forum before buying and decided to go for it. So happy and thrilled i made my purchase. Although I have the limited, I would like to add some off road features.. any suggestions?

If you want to add some off-road capabilities to your limited, you might consider the following:

Pull out the Xreas suspension system you currently have. Sounds scary, but if you want to upgrade the suspension and add a little lift, you're going to have to do it. Plenty of people around here have done it and can point the way.

Add a good suspension system. Eibach or Bilstein have great budget friendly components. If you want a top of the line suspension system, look at King or ADS.

New wheels. You're going to want to go down to 17" wheels for off-roading. Use the stock wheel specs (width, backspacing, offset) from either the Pro or the Off-road if you want to reduce the amount of rubbing and cutting you'll have to do.

Get a good set of A/T tires.

That'll get you off to a good start.

    Welcome to the forum!

Get some decent all terrain tires and have fun! Depending on the type of off-roading you want to do, this might be all you need.

Skid plates are a good idea, especially if you're going to be driving over rocks and boulders. Rock sliders also provide protection, but not many are compatible with the Limited due to the different rocker panels.

You might want to pick up some basic recovery gear as well. Traction boards and a shovel are a good starting point. A kinetic recovery strap is great if you have another vehicle along to pull you out.

Keep looking around on this forum and you'll get plenty of ideas for how to spend all of your money.:D

Also, @Agent_Outside and others have built up Limiteds and taken them all over the place. Check in the 5th gen build sub-forum for build threads and you'll find more information specific to off-roading and modifying a Limited.

Have fun! And, post pictures of your 4runner!
