Depending how thick the plate is on the top one, the bottom one may be a little more structurally sound. Overall weight might be a consideration, but it isn't a deal breaker for either one.

No picture of the bottom one on a 4th gen? It's starting to grow on me a little more.

The only other thing is the top one might be a tad more aerodynamic on the hwy, but probably not enough to make that much of a difference in mileage. I lost about 1.5 mpg when I put the Shrockworks on my 5th gen, then mud tires dropped mpg even more. She's a thirsty one for sure.IMG_4144 - Copy.jpg

@stewtopia I went over kill on mine. Because of plans for a 2nd battery, compressor, fuse box, ML ACR, I had no option of mounting it in the engine bay. So I decided to weather proof it at the same time because it wouldn't have good protection with the spot I picked out. So I used a Carlon weather proof box for outdoor electrical. I mounted it to the grill support bracket that is bolted to the core support on the passenger side. You can see the inside of the headlight to give you some reference. I used Seal tight connectors to give some protection against submersion. I should have mounted the control socket in the grill so access could have been done without lifting the hood. Hindsight..... 20/20. Looks like I need to replace some wire loom now too.
I will say it was a PIA fitting it all in a 6 x 6 x 4 inch space, so it might not be an option for most people. I just wondered how long a solenoid will last if left open to the elements and submersion, so like I mentioned, I went overkill. Hope this gives you some ideas.

RSG Offroad only made it for their SAS 5th gen so I'm going to be the first to have that design on a 4th gen I'm super excited I dropped it off today with the welder :) I'll post pics as I get them from him

@Rambler2005 Lol...well...that was a puzzle I kind of failed at. I initially went with some cheap trailer marker lights just to get on the road. Then I added these cheap strips which are working pretty well, but they aren't super visible behind the bumper, so I added the latest ones higher up and more on the corner of the fender. It looks a bit silly, but this truck is more about function than form lol. You will need to buy a hyper flash resistor if you go with any led fixture. Here are links to the resistor and led strips:

Thanks, it's the Warn M8-S. Mounting the control box was interesting. Pretty cozy in there.

Now I just need for all my trips planned to not get cancelled...

How's everybody doing? Healthy and safe I hope. Been awhile since I checked in. @Rambler2005 what did you end up doing for front blinkers?

Hey!! I hope you are doing well. I haven't done anything for my front blinkers haha. I found a fantastic deal on a winch and I've been focused on that which is bad haha. I'm thinking about getting KC Cyclones as turn signals.

Nice! I was thinking about going up to Crandon for the races next month, but Fla to Wisconsin is a long haul, and like a lot of people, money is tight right now.
Be safe and have fun out there!

Fun time yesterday. Keeping up with the Jeeps was tough. The white Jeep was more my level. Clearance is def my biggest issue. Not sure I can put much bigger of a tire on. May just have to put more armor on.

The beaver damn was cool. The water was eye level.

@stewtopia my 5th gen is full steel armor and is way heavy. Go with aluminum if you can, and the stock gas skid is pretty stout, so you can think twice about adding that one. Where did you end up putting your winch control?

Pouring down here today in the land of named storms. Glad I got out of the house yesterday. Figured it was time to post a pic in this thread besides the one in my driveway.
