Hi I was wondering how I would know if my 4Runner is equipped with the Kdss. I wanna get the TRD skid plate but I read that if I have Kdss the skid plate would have to be cut to fit around the bar??? I have an 18 TRD off road

Watch some YouTube videos, it isn’t hard to find the KDSS system underneath your truck.

Hey Roni_18TRD, just look for the KDSS light to come on when you first turn the key during start up. BTW, some good manufacturers make skids for KDSS equipped models, unless you really want the the big TRD proclaiming your front skid to the world.

It’s on the far right side and says KDSS. You can’t miss it.

And if you do have KDSS you still have several options for a beefier skid plate. I recently installed RSG front skid plate on my KDSS equipped 4Runner (Their plate will fit KDSS and NON-KDSS Runners). If you do have KDSS, then RSG also makes a specific skid to better protect the KDSS pump on the driver side of your Runner. I have both.

The factory skid on my 2018 TRD ORP was made of thin sheet metal. It was dented after my first off road run on VERY mild trails.
