Headlight bulbs

I’m researching halogen bulbs. Found a good deal on the Sylvania 9003 H4’s. I still have my original 1996 bulbs in now. So I should see an improvement? My question is are these the best bulbs or is there a H7 or H9 available for my application?

Be here next week. They got to be better than the LED’s I tried, one burnt out in two miles. I will get a before and after pic on the garage door....

 

Well here they are. Got them half price on eBay from what the auto parts store wanted. I wonder how much difference there will be from my stock 96 bulbs?

 

Well first off the stock 96 bulbs are a lot bigger. But being almost 25 years old? I was hoping for a more noticeable increase in light but I guess I gained a lil.

Silverstar are great bulbs for the first few months. They are halogen and sadly don't stay bright for longer than about 3-6 months. The longest I've every got them to stay bright is about 6 months. Then they dim down drastically. Sylvania XTravision bulbs tend to stay brighter longer (IMO). I've had a set in my '12 Tundra for the past 2 years, and they are still pretty bright; about 30% brighter than the stock/factory bulb. Also, LED bulbs are NOT created equally. Some are DEFINITELY better than others. You have to look at the lumen as well as the kelvin to find the right mix for your eyes and your housing.

 

Also notice my right headlight is dimmer. I just can’t believe how well this turd runs with 308k miles. I’ve gone through creek crossings about 100 times this past month. And going to be towing a boat soon. Wish me luck!!!

 

After 24 years I had one of my OEM headlight bulbs go out. I got two of the cheapest Sylvania bulbs they sell at Orileys. If I don't get at least 2 years out of these bulbs, I will go back to OEM.

 

That's what I get. Cheapo Sylvania. They are the correct brightness for OEM and so far they've lasted 5-10 years each. I think in 18 years I have replaced a single headlight bulb 3 times? I can hardly remember.

I also run my headlamps 24/7. I do not drive without headlights on in any vehicle.

 

Had the Silverstar ZXE Gold series. They are whiter and brighter than stock.
