Lol, I wish I had somewhere to go! Installed today, but trying to stay put. Will update next time I get on the road, hope to get a bike ride or two in soon.

Would you be willing to sketch and share your pattern and share measurements of wood pieces?

oh it’s not much at all, just a 41x43” (I have some canvas back on the sidewalks so your measurements may vary) piece of sanded 3/4” plywood. Then I bought cheap carpet tiles (like .90 a tile cheap) from flooringsinc. I went with “gunmetal” color- it’s close but perhaps a touch light, a standard black or charcoal might match closer. It took about 12 18x18inch tiles, but I’m a cut twice measured once type so maybe you could get by with 10?- it’s all made of solidly sticky adhesive so goes on easy to the wood, easily trimmed with a box knife.

when I first laid the bare wood down it was perfectly flush with the backseats when folded down (with seat lowers left in). Now after adding carpet (which is only about 1/8” of inch thick on each side of board) I can’t seem to get it to sit flush where I had it before the carpet- a bit perplexed by this.

anyway, it’s not perfect, but it’s kind of close, and it was dirt cheap.

Thanks! For the frame under the plywood is it just 2x2’s?

I’m not running any frame at all, just the plywood. I do lay into on top of my 4runner rubber mat tray thing, and I do have my summer carpet mats under that as well, so some lift being provided by those as well, but again you may need/want 2x2 underneath, and again, I still can’t figure out how I put it in without carpet such that it was basically flush with the backseats down, but now with just 1/4” in carpet it has a 1/2-3/4” lip, so I’m still working out the kinks.

No lift. I replaced the limited rocker panel covers with the SR5 ones. That makes it look 3 inches taller

Ordered my Baja roof rack and ladder combo today. They are doing a 15% off right now. I was actually going to go with Gobi but I feel they are misleading on their web page with what all you get and what’s free

I ordered some epoxy primer and "Rat Rod Matte Black" epoxy paint from Eastwood yesterday. I think in this climate I'd prefer epoxy paint over powder coat, so that's the path I took. I'll create a build thread shortly that you can follow along with!

With the suspension "BOX" you got it looks like a real good weekend for you!!! Hope it's warmer for you this weekend too!! Our oldest daughter used to live in Milwaukee and we would visit once a month and it was always a ball there! There was a bar/bowling alley in a basement somewhere that we were in so long and buzzed up that I thought it was going to be night when we went out but it was afternoon and a big suprise! :burp:

Me, too! I’ll have the heater on in the garage to keep it palatable. But if it warms up, I’ll surely let the fresh air fly!

I’ll be coating it with matte black 2-part epoxy paint. For turnaround, I ordered it on Sunday and it was on my doorstep Wednesday. Shocked, but elated!

I put this one on a few weeks ago, before the shutdown and picked it up at their shop. It’s aluminum so it was PC’ed. Installed a Warn Evo VR 10s winch in it.

I used a factor 55 fairlead that fits perfectly with Victory’s flip licence plate bracket. It’s pretty snug in there, so if you really know you’ll be doing a winch, it’s best to install it with the bumper.

I for one second Eastwood’s quality in paint/powders. I used some of HF’s “red” powder and it turned orange in a short time....

Yeah, it was a quick place to toss in an order with reasonably quick turnaround without me trying to figure out where the auto paint stores are in the city and whether they have it in a rattle can. With luck, I'll only have to do it once. :)

Suspension install happens tomorrow! Getting there! Photos upcoming.ll

I agree. I won't be installing it until I get a winch in it. I see you have a blank plate (which looks great, BTW). I ordered a light bar with mine, so even tighter, no doubt. Also have the flip license plate frame. Painting is next weekend's project, and then there's some cure time. So I've got a little bit of time to get a winch ordered. :)

I decided to forgo the light bar, as where I travel and plan to travel in the future there are a lot of gravel roads, and lights and windshields are a problem as it is. I just ordered Victory’s rear bumper, and I plan to install back up lights in it. I’m not even worried about the cost of the light if it gets broken, it’s the hassle of removing the bumper to repair it, for my situation.

Either the WarnEvo VR 10s as @Oldtoyotaguy mentioned or the Smittybilt 10K. Still on the fence.
