Seems like a good idea as long as the business still has enough customers to meet those operational costs. If the customer traffic drops too much, then selling at full pop to the few remaining loyal customers might be the only way to meet those costs. However, like you said, a big sale might bring those customers in.

I know this for a fact, I am glad I am not a business owner right now. Especially if I had employees that were counting on my business to pay their salaries and feed their families.

So you missed the sale dates and now want CBI to honor the discounts after you missed the dates? When they are likely struggling to stay open? Maybe they will to help out their people, but that's weak sauce in my book...there's no way in hell I could ask a company to do that in this environment. Plus, I'd feel crappy about trying to take advantage of the pandemic to save maybe a couple of hundred dollars for what is essentially my mistake. Maybe you could buy a bumper and sliders full price now to help them out and get started on the gear you want while working with them on a discount on the other bumper after this settles down. Or am I missing something?

Thanks for the tag. Yep we are still operating at full bore. If you use our tax time code well it's still up and gives you 20% off you just won't get entered in the give-a-way we had going. We do have a full replacement rear bumper we finally releasing now as well.

So I read through some of the commentary on here. Lets put some perspective on this here. Some of our competitors are shut down for the time being, I hate that for them, their employees, and families. It's really crappy what's going on that's for sure. While the simple answer is quantity to increase revenue it doesn't always work that way especially right now with the economy taking a turn for the worse. As a business we saw the writing on the wall a few weeks ago and made some strategic moves to allow us to stay open until someone comes and forces us to close. Also another factor to think about here is shipping right now that's our bottle neck shipping stuff is crazy right now. We are concerned about our vendors as well for steel, powder coating, and line-x if they start closing we may not be able to fulfill orders like we would like. It's easy to say run a huge sale and only make a few bucks profit on an item but what if those orders don't happen then you kinda just sold your time, skill, effort, and worth for pennies on the dollar to try and make money to stay open.

goog point. I was only thinking of manufacturing that can keep it all in house. And yes shipping is another variable entirely.

At this time they are same with our powder coating company. If anything changes with our vendors we will inform those that get affected. SC luckily hasn't been hit as hard as other states and where we are located is more rural so that's even less affected. But like where I live in NC the whole state is on lockdown now and even "essential" businesses are struggling to stay open because no one is doing anything so what's the point in staying open.
My sis and BIL work in NYC well they are working from home now and just came down here to escape what is going on up there. Hate to say it but more than likely my sister's company will die off and maybe my BIL.
There are a bunch of armor companies where it may seem it's all in house yet cutting, bending, and especially coatings is done 3rd party. You'd be surprised. And we all rely on steel suppliers staying open.

I am fortunate enough to work in logistics which is hot right now. I am fortunate enough to be an essential employee and working steady. However, you don't get rich spending money right? All I was saying is just as other industries have already done, I wanted to confirm if there was any deals from companies that are looking to cover true operating costs and offer a sale.. I'm not shamming people if they do or don't... shame on me for asking I suppose.. Am I supposed to pay extra just because of what's going on ? Ill answer that. No I am not. Some bear markets create other bull markets... the economy would totally collapse if no one was still spending money.. Just trying to keep a FAB shop in business by buying some bumpers here but obviously im going to look for a deal.

I see no problem in companies trying to make a buck in any situation hell that keeps not just the company in business but also their employees working and feeding all their families. We shouldn't shame those companies that are running sales or trying to capitalize on the current situation like all of us there are people behind those companies and without the company no matter how big or small we would all have to figure something else out. We have not taken our tax sale code down so feel free to use that. If anyone is interested in the full replacement rear we have please PM me. We were planning on doing a big release sale for it and the gladiator bumper but at the current climate we find it not the proper timing. Same with doing sales that are named after the situation, I find that a little distasteful just because many many people are not in good situations and it just seems like a slap in the face. But running a sale I see no problem with just be tactful and tasteful about it. Hell I'm loving these 90s gas prices right now and other savings at the grocery stores and elsewhere. Presents for my daughters bday will be cheaper even if her party and birthday are right in the middle of this shit fit. We all have to try and make the most of current situations and have some empathy for those that are more affected than others. We are all trying to make it through this situation and be better on the other side. Our shop is a whopping 4 people myself, Eddy (owner), Justin, and Nick. If you want to call us taking advantage or acting like wolves to try and stay afloat for selling with a discount code that's fine but we all have families to feed and our jobs to protect. Most of the fab companies out there for any type of motorsports are small shops like ours and there is a lot of uncertainty. Most of these shops and people it's a passion and love of this stuff that drives the company and the people. We would like to see our competitors re-open and make it out the other side fine as well. Nothing drives innovation more than competition. Sorry for the long windedness but I think someone needed to say it and see it from different perspective before this thread started to turn into a dumpster fire.

Timing, severity of this issue with the amount of people dying, the loss of jobs, the amount of businesses going under and the suffering on a global scale. Your post to ME came off as a bit “I want to take advantage” of the situation. I’d be saying the same about a vendor or price gouged in the times. To each their own though, good luck with your sales search.

Well, I decided to invest a good chunk of cash when the stock market took a dive a couple weeks ago. Assuming the market thrives in the long term, I stand to make a good return. This is, for the most part, at the expense of other's misfortune. I also bought a house at the peak of the housing crash in 2009. The seller took a pretty good hit, and I got a "deal". It is often hard to reconcile opportunity and conscience.
If a company decides to run a sale, that is its decision. Coming from a construction background, it was not uncommon to operate at cost or even a loss to weather a recession. In that case, the customer got a great deal compared to better times. We got to keep a company alive for better times.
Unfortunately, our good fortune is often at another's peril whether we recognize it our not. I pray for all those affected and especially the small business owners who are trying to keep their dreams alive. This world is a messy place full of contradiction, misfortune, and conflict. Hopefully, we can all bring a little good to it.
