The loops under the front end of my 2019 are supposedly only good as tie-downs for transport, not to use to pull stuck vehicles. There's a set of brackets I saw on this site which bolt to the frame and allow shackles to be connected to them.

I have used the search function, I swear. Anyone? Please?

The search function on this forum doesn't always work very well. Usually, you're better off Google searching the keywords you're interested in followed by 4runners.

I haven't snapped a loop yet, I think the aftermarket ones are an answer in search of a question, but it's not my money...

I dunno man. I think it depends largely on how/what you're pulling out. Slowly pulling out a 3,000 lbs compact out of a snow bank probably wouldn't cause any damage. Pulling out a 5,000 lbs SUV stuck in mud, especially if taking a running start....not quite so sure.
Using my rad support to help pull a stranger out of a ditch scares me, I'd rather err on the side of caution.

You shouldn't be pulling like that in reverse anyway. I wouldn't use a kinetic strap on those loops, either. I'm referring to self recovery with a winch and a snatch block doubled back to a frame loop.

Seeing as how your initial search attempts fell short, how about helping the next guy/gal out with theirs? In the interest of someone else searching this subject, how about changing the thread title to something more appropriate to the subject being discussed, rather than "I swear I really tried, really"...just a suggestion.

He didn't even know them as recovery points. Thats why it didn't work.

Sometimes I draw a blank to what stuff is called and search sucks ass.

Right. Even when searching specifically for recovery points, there was only 1 result. Meanwhile, a Google search turned up multiple results from this forum.

I definitely agree that you're pretty much screwed if you don't know what something is called.

I've even tried to find threads by title and it seems like Google is usually more effective.

    Done!

You have to put yourself in my shoes. "Oh Christ, here's yet another newb who asks questions without even trying the Search function." I've seen it many times on other sites, so I was jez trying to warn others that I really had tried. ;)

Not to turn this thread into a how to on the search but need to use the filters better on the site. Instead of searching for 5th gen recovery point. Just search recovery point and change the search section to 5th gen.

The more you type in the less results you will get.

Why not? The OP states that he was unable to find what he was looking for using the search feature.

You are correct! I will keep this in mind. :)

Someone will benefit from the change, thanks. Been there, done that, on asking a question that seems everyone knows the answer to but you. Fortunately, I don't see a lot of "WTF are you asking THAT for???! Did you search??" on this forum. Much more civilized around here...

I don't even bother with the search feature here and always use google. Just include 4runners.com along with the key words and usually have great luck finding what I was looking for.
