Just bought my 2020 SR5 Premium on Thursday night. Currently has 74 miles on it and is back at dealership. When I started it this afternoon I got warnings about engine/throttle/transmission failure and the truck started shaking. Truck would barely accelerate or change gears on way to dealership. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Sorry to say but that's definitely a mice problem. Work for a Toyota dealership and we get this problems all the time. Good luck.

That was my first guess also. The "squirrel damage" is not always apparent at first look...

The truck went into limp/safe mode to prevent any potential harm-reason why it started driving like that. It does sound like an electrical problem. Was the truck sitting in the lot for a while? Mice love harnesses. very low miles! Toyota will take care of it, I wouldn’t worry. Make sure you don’t pay em nothing.

Yes it could of happened at the dealership. We found mice droppings in several of our new cars and trucks on the lot.

To prevent mice from entering your engine bay spray some peppermint oil in the engine compartment. This is what I do at work when I park my 4Runner I spray the front tires, wheel well, and all over my parking spot. Keeps them critters away. Funny, my coworkers are always asking me why my parking spot smells sooo good.

The truck had just gotten to the dealership the day I purchased it. They had it long enough to tint the windows before I picked it up.

Let's hope it isn't little critters except maybe for gremlins and a faulty connection.

I don't know how long mine was at the dealership, but I don't believe for long. I am convinced mine got gnawed on in transit from Japan, at the port in CA, or while being trucked to the dealer, but I have no proof. I think since this issue keeps cropping up, dealer's pre-sales inspections need to include engine bay wiring for possible rodent damage.

Tint, Weather Tech mats, LED headlights, and more coming soon.
I just got my 4Runner back yesterday from the dealership. I had to go through my insurance since the damage was more than my deductible.

Check or have someone check the fuel injection wires under the engine cover. The cover just pops up from the front and hinges in the back.

The parts were about $140 and labor was $700 if the rats got the same wires as mine.
