One of the bigger things I noticed moving from the Tacoma to a 4runner, is that the head unit does not auto dim when the headlights come on. Any threads on here or ideas on how to make this happen? I plan on switching to a different head unit soonish but in the meantime I want to make it auto dim at night.

Have you looked into the $5 and 5min mod? There’s a thread explains how to add the Oem light sensor
My $5 mod in 5 mins.

I have not but thank you! Just read up on it and seems like it’ll do what I want it to do. Ordered on Amazon since they’ll be at least 2 months sooner. Much appreciated!

I didn’t, didn’t really read much of it. What I got from the thread is to adjust the dimmer and what not. Some guy installed it on his 2019 so I assume it’ll work on my 2018. Either way for $10, I’m willing to gamble!

My 2017 SR5 did not have the wire harness on it. It’s just a hole plug.

It only works on station wagons with crawl control.
