I am a captain of a local search and rescue team. Our county director told us that we are 95% sure to get a mobile radio (Motorola CM200 series I believe) for our personal vehicles. We would have the option to have it professionally installed, but I wanted to see how involved it may be and if anyone else had installed a vhf/uhf radio (not ham or CB).

I have installed car stereos in the past so pulling a dash does not worry me.

Thanks I'll have to look through that. CBs are great because many have detachable face plates so you can hide the unit under a seat. Motorola has a model of the mobile with that but it costs about $500 extra over just the radio.
