performance

Hello, new to the forum. I own a 16 tundra limited trd, leveled, TRD pro grille, slightly sized up tires. Needing to replace my daily driver and road trip vehicle as the tundra is too much for the city parking and runs to the mountain skiing. I hunt and fish so dead stuff will find its way in the back. I'm a toyota guy and looking at the 4runner but hesitant about the performance. I love the power of my tundra and not looking to take a big step backwards. Test drove a limited but couldn't really put it thru the paces with the dealer. Looking for any comments regarding know performance variations among trim models, potential difference making mods as well as current owners general satisfaction with stock performance. Was hoping for some new innovation this year but didn't seem to happen. Would love a 4runner version of bronco with 3 liter eco boost. Any comments on satisfaction or disappointments appreciated. Thanks.

 

Welcome to the forum, most newer models come with the 4.0, about the best power mod would be super charger.

 

Magnuson as mentioned if budget is no problem. However Sprint booster has quite the following with 100s that love it. No HP gain but the throttle delay is gone. Many nay sayers but I doubt they ever had one. The second you install and take off you will be wowed

 

I have a 2019 Off road premium and I am satisfied with the performance.

Towing a fishing boat is fine as long as you're not in a hurry. At least, I've found that the truck tows better below 70 MPH. I will go faster, but your fuel economy will drop and it will constantly want to downshift.

I would say to take another test drive, maybe a used one, and get a feel for it before you buy.

 

We have both and if coming from a Tundra to any smaller pick up or 4Runner you will miss the lack of power the Tundra has.
