Man hang gliding is something I’ve always wanted to do. pretty sure I’d be instantly hooked if I ever get the chance to try it out

It's a lot of fun! I always think if it's something you want to do, find a way. These guys should be able to provide some info for SC: https://sites.google.com/site/southcarolinahanggliding/home

I am married and therefore suffer the consequences of those actions! Lol I would also like to skydive. I may have a major problem @ home if I do...
The way I see it; if I lived through being shot through the femoral artery and managed to live (somehow), I can live & enjoy skydiving. However, my wife sees me as pushing the limits.
I don't see it that way. I wanted to skydive before my shooting but now I am not nearly as scared.
Does anyone understand this? I am a PTSD mess, sorry.
    Ryan
Not sure about hangliding as my leg is not as strong as before my accident.

No need to apologize for the PTSD...getting shot is a bit traumatic! I was a skydiver for five years too. I told my wife she read the warning label before we got married! Jumping, hang gliding, motorcycles, etc boil down to managed risk for me. I've been in aviation all my life and have visited enough hospital rooms and gone to enough funerals. Both suck, and I don't want to put my friends/family through that. I'm very conservative with my sports. Stand down if something doesn't feel right. If experienced people are staying on the ground, there's probably a good reason. For the hang gliders, there's places that will tow you up with either a winch or behind an ultralight aircraft. Look up platform towing and aerotowing. You can land on your belly too to protect your leg. No running on launch needed. Wallaby Ranch, FL and Lookout Mtn, GA are two good places but may be a little bit of a drive for you. Man, I'm glad you survived the shooting...can't imagine what that is like.

I’d love to try it out but I’m so busy with life it would never happen. My job takes up so much of my time that when I’m not working I’m busy with house stuff and then the little errands in life like stores take up the rest. Looks like a blast though

Same here, scottalot! I travel a lot for work, and office days are stupid busy too. Flying is one of the few selfish things I do for me and is my distraction from all of that. I need the downtime. When I'm flying, none of that other stuff exists. I'm there to hang with my friends, fly, and just relax. HG is very calming to me.

I’d be willing to bet money that there would be absolutely nothing else on my mind while I was in the air  first few flight you likely only think about touching ground again hahahhah
Does it ever feel sketchy uo there? Get big gusts that make ya uneasy or is that really part of the thrill?
Gliders these days look really beefy and stable. Never had seen the suits like what you had on. Looks weird not having your legs free.

Took my wife to work today (truck is in the shop) & saw our twin. I almost stopped & started laughing!
It was a few years old as it has the silver roof rails. Also, we aren't window sticker people (13.1, stick family etc...).
First close to clone spotting for me. I guess we need more mods! Lol

Stupid midwest salt! I washed ours again today (just a pressure rinse) but there is a chance for trace tonight so they will brine the roads. Maybe Saturday because Sunday is... Football day!

This has happened with them numerous times and is the the main reason i am here, and glad to be here i might add. To much drama, and dis-like of newbe’s over there. They do have a plethora of information, but that does not make up for the snide remarks, and disregard for the forum maintenance upgrades.

Driving home I pulled up behind an amazing looking runner. 285s, Gobi, guessing 3" lift.
Sitting at a stop light admiring the runner thinking how cool it would be to get mine looking that way. Ended up passing him and my want to look just like that vanished.
SOB had bright as heck guessing LEDs and the not street legal yellow baja fogs. Blinded by the light!
What a let down. Almost as bad as seeing a hot girl then finding out its got an adams apple

Love mine. I've noticed it starts a trickle charge before the Sun even clears the tree line. I would love to do a mount like LTDSC has , but I wonder if it would take trail damage from trees or the occasional hail storm here.
