    New to the forum....1992 22RE 5Spd. (I think an RF1A T-Case).

Has anyone changed the transfer indicator switch on passenger side / top of the transfer case? If so, how did you get a wrench on it? Did you have to drop the transfer case? Does anyone know the exact part number for this switch location? (I suspect there are more than one but I have yet to learn for sure). I just picked this one up last week, my first 'Runner. Factory rims coming soon.

Thank you, yes it's pretty good, typical Toyota stuff wrong with it though. A few switches and relays are bad.

How about a pass through socket wrench. Or an open end?

Thank you Dark Knight, have you successfully accessed the switch with either tool? Do you know the size? 24mm, 27mm? I don't own a pass through or a box end that large if that's the case. (couldn't find the switch's bolt diameter anywhere either). I'd like to know which one works so I can buy the right tools. Thanks

I have not. Many times when I’m in this situation I measure close as I can with a measuring tape and buy a couple wrenches; use the one that fits and take back the others.

Update: I finally got the switch swapped out. I purchased a 27mm box end wrench from HF, you can get them at Menards too. I had to almost cut the entire wrench in half in order to have enough space to make a turn of the switch. I changed it and whaddayaknow I now have 4wd for the firs time since I've owned it!
