2020 Limited to SR5 bumper swap

So I'm considering doing a bumper swap but there are a couple things that would make that more difficult than a 2019 or older.

1. Safety Sense radar - I know that it's new to 2020 but the location, distance from ground, and possibly angle differs from trim levels. Just spoke to my local Toyota service tech and he told me that any little change could throw it off (even lifting) and they are told by Toyota to disable the whole system if a car comes in modified.

- has anyone done a bumper swap from limited/nightshade to SR5/TRD and how did it go?

-what aftermarket options do I have to recalibrate the system if it does spas out?

2. This should be common with older models but what's the best location for parking sensors to be drilled into new bumper?

 

I think it’s a fairly easy swap when I did it. My only concern is how is the TSS attached to the limited bumper and can the original one be swapped to the TRD bumper ?

 

What's the difference between TRD and Sr5?

 

TRD bumper has slats on the bumper to secure the valance. Sr5 has no valance or slats.

Awesome, yeah I took a look online and through your spread sheet today which was super helpful (the dealership basically blew me off). I can't find the part number for the 2020 with a cutout for the TSS online (on McGregor and such), still searching though, any thoughts?

 

i believe this is the lower radiator grille w/ tss. perhaps someone with a 2020 sr5/trd can confirm. p/n# 53112-35090

Should be no issue as trd’s have the same tss.

 

that's what I thought, but is the sincere high or angled differently? The guys at the dealership said it would have to be recalibrated for $250 if it was removed. Has anyone tried a bumper swap with the tss?

 

From your avatar looks like you completed the bumper swap. Any issues with TSS? Is the 53112-35090 part number correct for the lower grille to mount the TSS?

 

53112-35090 Is the part, didn’t have a problem with the TSS after the switch. Just take your time, I’ll put together some parts that I didn’t think about but you need.

 

Thanks for the confirmation. Just to make sure, this grille part number has the TSS mount built into it and has the black square front cover for the TSS also?
