    Mine was assembled in August of 2018 I would think that would be near the end of the 2018 production line.

    See link at end of page 1. You might of just made the cut off. I picked mine up August 2018 (Assuming it was made in July or earlier.)

    I bought my 4runner in August 2019, but it was manufactured in March 2019.

    I checked the App, and the 2 sites mentioned in the Article, no recalls on my vehicle according to all 3 places.

    Sweet I love being wrong. I had in my head when the dealer took possession and that was August 2018, I didn't get it until January 2019. The VIN badge in the door says 3/18 in the upper right corner so I'm assuming that's when it was assembled.

    I had a Tacoma for about 5 years before I first heard the noise. And it was several hours after I shut off the truck. Just happened to walk into the garage and the noise was “happening”. Got on the internet only to discover it’s normal. Then I read about it in the owners manual. Never heard it again in the next three years I had the truck.

    So, it’s normal to have the noise. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re gonna be on the fuel pump recall. But you might be on the recall.

    That about sums it up.

    Do you know or could you find the area or page number that it is in the owners manual? I have absolutely no faith in anything Dillusion has to say (he told a forum member to kill themselves)!
    I have reread every page pertaining to fuel in our 2019 manual & nothing says anything about this.
    Thanks & much appreciated,
    Ryan

    It was redacted by the moderators (you know that! Nice try you ass). You think I am stupid? Someone asked a question & your response was...

    NOPE! I am not stooping to your level. I respect people & life! Please, leave this forum! Please. You are a nuisance and no one here needs a clown.

    Oh I see no proof. I might be an ass hole sometimes/most of the time but telling someone to go off themselves is not me.

    Again PM me if you want to keep going.

    You are now a liar!
    Hey dummy,
    How can I prove something that has been redacted? Are you serious?
    You cannot lie to yourself. I have never had a problem with anyone on here but you. You make snide remarks and low blows on many threads.
    This is pathetic & I am above this therefore I shall not participate in this conversation any longer.
    Let the trash go & watch this thread get locked also. Thanks @Dillusion! :llama:

    I finally had to swap out my recycling trash can with one with a lid because I got tired of having to clean up all my recyclables every morning due to my idiot's love for knocking it over.

    Found this in the other forum—

    @4Runner fun
    “...owners manual page 22 a section titled "For Your Information" - The second bullet says "Noise from under vehicle after turning off the engine. Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check, and it does not indicate a malfunction"

    @4runningMan
    I am rereading all manuals.
    Mine states nothing of the sort. On pg 22 or any page that is under the fuel section. Can you confirm?

    You are correct. They sure did hide that note!

    I am curious as to when they implemented this "leakage check" & if it correlates to the fuel pump failures?
    I am sorry I thought I heard the fuel pump running & a few days later saw these articles about pump failures and thought I drew a connection between the two. I was wrong.
    Sorry,
    Ryan

    We need a Toyota tech on the forum to explain why they do this. We came from an Infiniti that was difficult to fill in the cold (not even the dealer had a fix with a TSB). I was/am concerned about this. Our T4R is my wife's DD & if it fails with no known fixes...

    For what it's worth, there are a lot of 2018/ 19 4runners on the streets. I've only been on runner forums for less than a year but I've not heard anyone say they had an issue relating to this recall and we all know how people bitch when there's a problem. I'm not discounting the recall as this will cost big bucks to toyota and no corporation does this out of the kindness of the heart. I guarantee that their lawyer sat down and did the math and they figured it would be cheaper to do the fix than to pay settlements along with getting a tarnished name

    I am just concerned that it is my wife's DD & it is winter out. I know most people are good but I was shot by one that wasn't & waiting till march for a fix on a vehicle that is 10 yrs old is a little silly. I am guessing because the T4R is near it's production run they got a batch of cheap pumps & it is biting them in the ass. No 2010-2017 has this problem (let me guess; those pumps are discontinued). All smells of corporate greed & lower cost per unit. Like soy based covered wiring...

    I do understand your frustration (and concern about our wives), But there are 10’s of thousands of these trucks on the road and I’ve not come across a single example on multiple forums, nor media reports, of failed fuel pumps over the last couple years.

    I know the noise surprised you, but rest assured, that’s all normal. And the odds are in your favor (by a long way) that your truck is gonna be just fine as far as the fuel pump goes. I’m guessing your wife’s chances of getting stranded from a flat tire are orders of magnitude greater than ending up with a bad fuel pump.

    Not to diminish the “fuel pump problem”, but don’t let it stress you out.
