Are the TRD Offroad rims better than SR5?

I am interested in purchasing a set of TRD Offroad wheels for my SR5. Is there any benefit for stock size tires other then looks and sticking out slightly farther. I am unable to get exact figures on weight differences. They just look so much better...

I have them on my SR5. Love them!

They are 0.5" wider obviously and the valve stem is protected by the wheel design.

Not sure on the weight compared to the SR5 wheels, but I imagine they're only slightly heavier. I certainly didn't notice any difference in weight from the SR5s to the Offroads.

Are you looking for the Trail wheels or the SEMA wheels?
If I remember correctly the SEMA wheels weight 24# each.
    Just to clarify.
    These are the SEMA wheels.

I found a used set for $300. Then had to get them installed, of course.

In my area they are going for 600 or more. eBay seems to be the best deal...

Yes they are better. I went wheeling this past weekend and hit a rock with my right rear. Would have torn my valve stem off had it not been protected by the rim.

And just like that I own a set of brand new TRD Offroad silver/black takeoffs. Now I have to wait till spring to mount them with all the salt around here. Who knows maybe some larger tires will be in my future...

    Congratulations!
Another forum member I imagine or craigslist/ebay?
I am/will be looking as I could use another gray SEMA wheel for my spare. I should have bought it during the 40% off sale.

I just did ebay, the price was on par with everything I have seen in my area. Over the last year I have been searching so I had a general idea what they were going to run me. I am positive there is a better deal out there but I got free shipping and my purchase is protected. And interestingly enough most of the ones that pop up in the nyc area are the full silver with no black.

Good choice! I usually choose function over form and the Trail wheels are the best wheel for off road duties. They also look awesome to me and they look good powder coated black or silver also.

I've got them on mine too. Got them powder coated gloss black as well. Only a half inch wider so I can't imagine that does anything handling wise, and maybe they were just balanced better than the stock, but I swear I got a smoother ride after they went on.

Funny I had the exact same Taco except mine had the Red an white bed stickers. But for years I looked at getting a set as they do look amazing on the Tacoma. Great looking truck...occasionally I miss mine.

I went with the TRD Pro wheels over the Off Road. Absolutely love them. Cost was $797 at a local dealer in Maryland. They charged me $100 to swap TPMS and rubber from my stock SR5 wheels. With the 2020 that is a great deal. Seems like with the new sensors and the needed software there is a big danger with damaging them (read around these forums for more details). I've seen plenty of TRD Off Road wheels on Craigslist locally from 400-600. I'd suggest starting there and offering up what you are willing to pay. Everyone thinks they are going to make a fortune on stock wheels but that never happens. They'll sit there for months thinking they are going to get 6-700 for those and never get it. Offer 400 and go from there.

Thank you, I do love the truck, but there is something about the runner that is a little more comfortable.
The sales guy said i have a unicorn truck because its a 6spd manual and they never are able to sell them. But i know plenty of people who opted for manual in the truck, I just wish it was still available in the full sizes.

Beautiful Runner and wheels. I love the blue accent. However... I had a black Porsche. Never again. I can only imagine the work involved to keep your Runner looking so nice.

Thank you for the kind words. Perhaps I'm just lucky or I don't really notice the extra work by now due to color. I had a charcoal gray Dodge for 11 years, then had a black Lincoln for 8 years so black doesn't phase me. What I find to be the biggest pain in the ass on these rigs would be the same on any color. That's the water that gets trapped behind the mirrors, under the rockers, taillights, backdoor, back window, side rear windows, gas door, front grill, under the badge overlays, and everywhere else I missed. As soon as I think I got everything there's a little drip coming from the mirror or a damn water steak going down the side that doesn't show up until the vehicle is in motion.

I'm sure people think I'm crazy at the carwash because I spend 20 minutes vacuuming the outside of the vehicle looking for all these hidden water pockets.

i see where @Drababan when from sr5 to trd pro wheels and could reuse the sensors. i am going from off road (7 spoke) to trd prod wheels and my dealer is saying they will need new sensors due to the angle of the stem/sensor is 20 degrees vs 40 (i forget which is which). Has anyone done this conversion and know if these sensors are compatible?

As a lawn & landscape contractor, I have a pro tip; I have never dried out 4runner by hand! I have a backpack blower but I have used our handheld Stihl to dry it! No chance of scratches.
The detail shop that put on our Xpel uses this. It blows warm air! Someday...

Scratches and dings don't worry me too much as they are inevitable. If I had the room or more so the desire to hand wash this thing I'd invest in all that stuff...I just don't...lol. I'm a lazy $25 a month car wash club member.

I was just saying to use air to get water out of odd areas! You can use an air compressor and a blow gun...

Lol....not sure they would like me breaking out a leaf blower at the carwash.....that would be hilarious though. I am curious how much power that dryer needs. It's gotta be too much for the plug in back. Only thing I ever tried on that plug blew the circuit every time I turned it on.
