Rough idle C.E.L flash

87 22re idles low and c.e.l. flashes.
I've counted the light 2, 5, 6,7, 8.
I cant figure out what its telling me. Idk if the tps is bad or something wrong with distributor. Any info or thoughts of what to try is greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

I suggest getting a FSM. There are a few links to the '85 FSM, which is the closest I've found out there. It seems pretty good. It has a really good list of the codes, and what each one means. Just google "1987 Toyota 4Runner FSM".
It's in PDF format, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat. Keep it, and you can call it up when you need it, study it before doing any work, print out pages you might need in-hand to do trouble shooting or repairs, etc.

Just from memory, I can say that code 5 is the O2 sensor. If one of the others suggests the distributor cap, replace it. They are cheap, and easy to find. The TPS can be checks, to see if it is functioning properly. Again, how to is in the FSM.

It will allow you to verify the rest. Having said all that, are you sure they're all involved in THIS problem? The computer stores codes it gets, so if one of those codes is from long ago, it may be one stored, and not applicable.
You can clear the codes by pulling the negative lead(s) off the battery for one minute or more. Then put it back on, and see what codes appear after trying to run your Runner.

I would try clearing the codes first, and then seeing what pops up. You may be getting confused by codes the computer stored from "before".
