I order them from Toyota and posted here but I can seem to find the post. I’ll look again but I think I got them from the TRD shop and they matched perfectly.

 

An update to this... They stopped the leak, replaced the stripped bolt... Told me they cleaned all the oil up as well... They lied.

They wiped off the bottom of the skid plate but that was it. There was still oil dropping and slung all the way down to the transfer case. Inside the skid plate was a ton of oil. I took pictures and a video... Sent it to the service manager... He told me bring it back they'll clean it all..

I brought it back... While cleaning it they dinged the door and chipped the paint... Now they're sending the 4runner to have the door repainted.

Holy hell!

Wow, that sucks and validates why I stay away from the dealer unless it's a warranty issue. Dealers truly need to get their collective acts together.

 

Seriously. They sell some great vehicles but the service department sucks. The thing is they hire kids straight out of highschool with no experience and let them work on our $30-40K vehicles.

At least they took blame for chipping my paint and I didn't have to argue with them. And I got a 2019 rav4 this time as a loaner instead of the crappy equinox I had a couple days ago.

Have to say... I do like the rav4. 30 miles home, wasn't babying it at all. 33mpg. Better brakes too. Plus the cubby holes are better thought out and actually fit stuff like my wallet, phone etc... I wouldn't trade my 4runner in on one due to the overall look of it and it's not as geared toward off-road... But I don't hate it.

 

Still plan on having the dealer do your service? I hope this taught you a valuable lesson.

 

Just got these in, going with Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/70/17 load C tmrw, I hope they look good, I kind of wanted a Darker Grey than the Gunmetal color, but I'll see how it looks tmrw

A valuable lesson? I didn't want to let them do it in the first place. But I bet you're a ton of fun in real life

 

Today was an interesting day. I can use computers but they hate me. For this reason I hesitated to install our Carista. I had a tech friend come down just in case I had any problems.
It couldn't have been easier. Sometimes you need to read the settings twice because there are so many options. This maybe the best $20 spent on the T4R yet! Best of all; had I let the dealership make the adjustments it would of cost me $62.50 each. We probably changed 10 things. That is $625 because the dealership says "we need to go deep into the computer to make those changes".
That was their response to $62.50 "for all adjustments, right"
Service advisor "nope, that is per adjustment"
The stealerships are making their money...
After saving $600 I was happy and gave her a much needed bath! It barely snowed the other day. Tomorrow is interior detail and I shall only wash (outside only) when it is salt covered during winter.

In the spring it will go back for any Xpel corrections a special cleaner they use that is like a wax for the wrap & maybe more ceramic coating (I love that stuff!).

I was eyeing up OME BP-51's, but @Ajmogen told me I would be better off with Kings. I'm still torn, but I have plenty of time to decide.

They definitely seem to be the top dog.

I like the idea of an adjustable height lift as I don't really want a full 3 inches all around.

 

But you fell for their BS and you did let them do it, that's the point. So, I ask again, did you learn your lesson or will you continue to allow dealer hacks to work on your 4Runner?

 

Wow...some people's level of ineptitude is amazing. That dealership should be embarrassed.

The warranty outline is very clear. Failure to do preventive maintenance can void your warranty. None of us can afford a lawyer better than Toyota. If you can't prove you did it and did it correctly they COULD deny a warranty claim. That's fact. Not BS. I'm not good at keeping records or receipts. So I let them do it...

There is only a very very small, microscopic, chance an engine will seize up by 60K miles, so from now on I'll do my own service. And just keep my receipts... And hope I'm not in the .001% group. I'm more than capable, and have invested thousands and thousands of dollars in my own garage, tools, and college for Auto tech and performance schooling.


All that being said... My 2.75” front, 1” rear lift is still perfectly level. A 4 foot level proves it.

 

Sounds like a pain in the ass! At least they're getting it straightened out.

I did my 5K tire rotation and 10K oil change at the dealer. I like the service department there, but after the 10K the truck had a new scratch (the FIRST scratch )! I am only 99% sure it was them and didn't notice it until the next day, so I just let it go.

Now I have about 500 scratches from narrow trails and I do my own maintenance

 

Every time I take any vehicle to any service department I make a 3-4 minute video at the service department, walking around inspecting the vehicle... They see me doing it so they know they can't deny any damage they do.

I started this after the service department scratched my wife's car and claimed they received it that way. We ended up winning that battle because they did a walk-around inspection of their own and claimed no damage on the paper.

Technically the service department is supposed to do their own walk-around, and fill out a walk-around inspection sheet... Any damage not listed on that inspection sheet they can be held liable for... But they don't always do it.

 

1st day: took my vehicle in for an easy tire rotation. Left and got on the highway with a massive wobble the likes of which I’ve have never witnessed before.
2nd day: had a balance done, no change, said I had two bent rims. Not many potholes around here?
3rd day: took vehicle back to Toyota where they told me I now have three bent rims. How these rims are bending themselves I will never know. Tried to give me a bill for 4K when the dam car is only worth like 5k.
4th day: ordered three new rims off of eBay and had them installed at the tire shop. Luckily I got a Memorial Day deal..
5th day: happy camper last time I go to the dealer. Ever!!

One second, I just saw the punisher logo in these (I know!). Does every one have that?
I can do camo etc but I am not a punisher logo guy. No offense to anyone who likes it.

Yup, all appear to have the punisher logo. Otherwise I would order one.
Oh well. I did find this @ the dealer for $15.95. It is "RealTree". I am 6'4 & fits me great!
