    Hello All from Illinois

Just got my first 4Runner and I love it. Having read so much and being a Toyota fan I decided to pick one up. I am looking to have some great adventures with this truck and show my sons this great country. We fish, hike, camp, and hopefully off-road.

Are there any good Offroad clubs/groups in the Chicago area?

Here she is, 2019 TRD Offroad P.

    Welcome!

Any mods planned for it? Any salt protection for the Chicago area?

Well since this is my first full ORV I am taking my time with it. I have about a million things I want to do but I want to make sure my mods are thought out and serve a purpose. Being a military person and seeing the world I realized I have seen some amazing places but haven't shown my sons that much of this world. We are starting to explore places in the US together and making some adventures since they are at a great age to do so (9 and 6). My goal is to take them to CO and hit these off-road trails and show them the beauty of the mountains. This 4Runner will serve as the basis and way to have these adventures and hopefully give them some kickass memories that I cant buy. Our last adventure was to KY and the mammoth caves, which they thought was amazing.

Anyways so far I have installed the OEM heritage grill, black out badges, front skid plate install, TRD rims, minor interior items and driving the truck. In the spring we have camping trips planned, fishing, and whatever adventures we can find. I tend to ask my boys what they want to do and we do it, kayaking, hiking, etc. I plan to add a Gobi rack, lighting, better suspension, fridge, etc

Right on - sounds like lots of fun to be had and thanks for your Service.

Did you find a place that had good prices on the grille, badges, and skid plate?

Assuming they salt in your area. If so, you may want to apply fluid film or AMSOIL H-D MP to protect/preserve the undercarriage. It makes a huge difference. I've used FF in the past and was pleased with the coverage; however, I applied the AMSOIL to my '20 and really like that it dries to a wax-like finish compared to the FF, which remains wet and attracts dirt.

No I haven't really found amazing deals on the TRD items, but I have a friend who works at a dealership (got my this truck at a great deal) and I seem to get the best pricing for these things from him. I will look into the undercarriage treatment, that is worrying me and I plan to keep this truck for a very longtime. Thanks for the advice are you in the Midwest?

I picked up some quality blackout emblems at www.runnin4taco.com. Found them to be lower $ than most and good service. Hope it helps for comparison.
