    Hi,
    I'm brand new here.
I have a '97 Limited, 6 cylinder, 2 wd. with 101k miles on it. It croaked on the freeway last Monday. It would start, then die immediately. After being towed to an approved AAA shop, I was fleeced for $725. They said they were going to replace the bad IAC with a Toyota part and totally disassemble/clean the throttle body. Then they changed their story and said they installed a Denso IAC they bought from an auto parts co. I called Denso. I was told they make parts for Toyota factories, but don't sell IACs. My truck is still idling rough and erratically. I suspect they either just cleaned the throttle body, or stuck some cheapo aftermarket part in there. Ugh. Your thoughts?

Just found this on a quick search. I’m pretty sure you could get the headgaskets replaced for that price.......757E9AF6-75AF-4304-A3C0-31660BE75592.jpg

Don’t freak out. They did something for that price. Prob should do a tune up. Plugs, wires, and coils.....

    Yeah, but is that OEM?
Already did the plugs, wires, fuel filter. Not the coils. Only has 101k on it. Don't know what code it generated. Mechanic stated the IACV went bad. Lost power and died on the freeway. Was idling rough for months. That's why I did the tune up about three months ago. Still idling loudly and roughly (intermittent). Now suspect all the mechanic did was clean out the throttle body and IACV.
Even if they did replace the valve and clean the throttle body, I was overcharged $200-300 too much.
