I have an opportunity to get a very nice set of running boards for my truck that look like these...5A40D8F5-DB40-4423-AF22-07E322971598.jpgI have no desire to get running boards but I am at the point that I THINK I kind of need them for my kids.

    1. For children 4 and up are they helpful? My kids love climbing in my truck but they get covered in the underbody crap...

    2. Do your pants get dirty every time entering from the side of the board?

    3. And this this is strictly for my vanity purposes but does anyone have pictures of a T4R with a 1 inch lift up front with the running boards?

Truth be told I am short and barely can reach all the roof. I have to step in my door jam to reach. This is going to be a exciting thread but I just want to hear some more “experiences” with them...

    Doable as is
    1. I have a similar type. My 8 year old uses it 100% of the time w/o getting crap on him.
    2. No, never or haven’t noticed. I step on them too and not the door jam when entering and exiting.
    3. I don’t

I would snag them. I prefer the continuous board rather than the “two steps on each side” configuration.

My short friends use them to get in, I use them to reach the roof, and Ive only gotten my pants dirty once, after that I learned I needed to step out a little wider.

I need them for sure. I can put my boat in/out and trailer in the water. Step on the rear bumper. Hold onto to the roof rack and climb around the SUV with out getting my feet wet or rubbing the side...

I'm close to 6'2" and feel running boards are a must for accessing the roof, particularly if washing the vehicle.

My old boss backed a heavily loaded trailor into my SUV. It almost rolled it.lol “I smashed ur truck hard! I will pay for it! I will pay for it!” I looked, the step-rail protected the whole side of the SUV. Just a scratch/gouge in the step. I was like “dude, you can’t hurt this thing”!!!

I installed them today and they look better than I thought they would. It’s now much easier for my kids to get in and my short A&!. The functionality far out weight the looks...And for 100 bucks for OEM steps off a brand new truck is a no brainer.B858EB18-CDCA-4CAA-AD79-5DD31237BEF8.jpg F4E9D302-3721-4EEB-9C1F-AD2BCC6ECDE3.jpg

Genuine Toyota 4Runner Running Boards - Trail Edition & TRD Pro OEM Factory Part - Toyota (PT938-89100)

The best price I’ve found is at Bam Wholesale Parts (currently $286.20). McGeorge Toyota Parts, EB Toyota Parts, and OEM Parts To You are not much more though.

If anyone else found them for less, please share.

These are different from the ones I have. The ones you have above have rounded corners from the Trail edition I believe. Mine are boxed more. I wonder if they sit higher? Cause they look much better than the ones I have.

This is the only PN I have been able to locate for these running boards. That said, the pictures and descriptions from site to site differ. Some show pics of the all black plastic model, while others show pics of the chrome insert used on the Limited. Also, some show the rounded corners while others have the square/boxed corners?

Anyone else have a different/accurate part number?

Hello all but does this type OEM running board fit on a 2014 4Runner Trail Premium 4x4 with KDSS? I'm getting a good deal on a set as long as it fits.

Those all black ones are nice and around $300 is a good price for genuine Toyota parts. My running boards were factory with the silver and they cost me $599 . I do like the black ones. but the silver ones were already installed and my roof racks are silver as well.Screenshot 2020-05-06 at 9.29.26 AM.jpg

I have them too, but keeping my eye open for local predator steps. Accomplishes the same thing with cooler look.

@SCgman good point. Washing the roof by hand is impossible without the steps.

I put a set of black "crushed oval" running boards on my wife's 2020 4Runner and like the way they look. However, her and the kids miss the ones that I removed (chrome and black with the rubber gasket between the board and body) because they were flat and easier to use. I was looking to get a set like the ones discussed above but I can only find the ones with the holes along the side (post 16) and the brackets are single-walled and look flimsy. Does anyone have these and can you tell me if they hold up well? Do they flex much when used? Are there any sources to buy the other type (post 1) new or do I need to find a used pair?

I have the "Trail" running boards (i.e. the ones with the holes along the side) and they seem plenty durable to me. I've had them on my SR5 for around 18 months and they still look brand new. My wife has a Limited with the chrome running boards and my Trail running boards seem just as good. BTW, can you tell me where you bought your "crushed oval" steps? I'm interested in those but have only found them at Amazon and one online Toyota parts dealership. Both places want ~$400. Seems about right. I paid around $385 for my Trail running boards and $460 for my wife's Limited steps.

I bought the Go Rhino ones on Amazon for $185. They seemed well made and I liked the look, they were just too narrow for my wife and kids compared to the ones that came on the vehicle. So I returned them.

    1. Absolutely. I have a 12 and 10 year old and it is very helpful for them.

    2. No I step on it as well.

I need to step on the door jamb as well for the front and I climb on my rear tires for the back.
