So the people I call, or who call me complain about a loud echo in their sound when I am on Bluetooth hands free phone connection with my 2017 4Runner. I have an iPhone 6s, but they can be on any platform, iPhone, Android. Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it? I have deleted my phone and reconnected several times.

    Thanks, Greg

I called the NSA in Utah, asked for the supervisor, and told him to please stop it! No issues since. :rasta:

In the Phone section of Entune there is a setting to adjust outgoing call volume. You might try playing with that to see if it improves things.

Turn down the volume on the headunit.

Thanks for the replies. I am starting to think it is just old crappy legacy technology. Toyota just doesn't seem to care much about updating technology in these vehicles. But, you gotta love em. (The 4runner that is).

While your on your next call. Turn down the Bluetooth volume on your phone. One or two down from the max. That doesn’t completely eliminate the echo but it has made a big difference.

Hello - I have a 2016 limited and I have been going back and forth with Toyota corporate over this same issue. This past summer (2019) I made a call and my Bluetooth sounded like all calls were coming from a tin can, the ring and voice. It came outta nowhere. The person on the other end always hears an echo now- from a cell phone or landline. Didn’t matter brand. Toyota corporate said to “adjust the handset volume” as a solution, after replacing the head unit - which I had to fight for them to do (I had a warranty). This seemed ludicrous to me since I’ve had this car for 3 years and never had this problem prior. Now all of the sudden I have to adjust the handset volume? They put me in a 2019 Tacoma for the day to replace the head unit and all calls from that vehicle were clear on both ends. I put the problem on hold until I could update to new iPhone 11, which I recently did, and now the car/Bluetooth drops my calls and disconnects phone while talking, and the echo remains (from all sources). Toyota can’t seem to figure it out. My car has been at dealership 3x trying to get this fixed. Has anyone had any luck finding a solution?

This fixed it for me on my '19 Limited. It resurfaces from time to time but the same adjustment has corrected it and it can be done during a call quite simply.
