I’ve had my new 4Runner SR5 Premium for one week and the screen for the radio is already scratched. I’ve called my “experience” department at the dealer, but I am not expecting much. I’ve been waiting for CarPlay and am super disappointed that something that should be solved is happening. You can tell its where I am scrolling or choosing items on the screen.

How soft is this plastic screen?

I’ve added a pic. Hopefully you can see the scratches.

Wow! That looks pretty bad. I don't notice anything like that in mine.

    I hope there's a solution!

Is that by chance a shipping film cover the kid at the dealer didn't take off?
Screens are typically pretty durable. Did you wash it with anything with grit?

Looks like something gritty scratched it.

    I can’t see a film, but i don’t think so.

So far I just used it. I haven’t had a chance to clean the 4Runner yet. You have to be the right light from the sun to see the scratches. I really think they were there before I got it, but I really have nothing to prove that at all. I sent them a message, so I will see what they say.

That had to be on there when you picked it up from the dealer. Never seen one scratched like that.

I'd ask them to swap it out for a new one. Mine had a fault code and went blank. It was replaced at no charge. That looks like it was damaged in transit by...

When i test drove my 2020 SR5P i noticed screen had what appeared a 1/8 inch deep scratch. I was worried about it durinf test drive. It was going to be a deal breaker since only one in lot. When i parked it i touched the "scratch" and it ended up being what appeared to be a fiber of carpet or something similar and it moved. NO SCRATCH.

DO NOT push the scratch thing if its been a while after delivery. Say that it freezes randomly no specific time it does it. Repeat keep repeating.

My headunit no hiccups or lockups, but then again I have not tried android auto or apple car play thing. It is funny for reals owner manual says what to do if it freezes. Gives instructions on what to do.

I didn’t wipe it. When I found the scratches, I hadn’t clean anything yet.

Far to many like that nowadays. 3 years ago bought a new pickup and I told the dealer I will not sign until I see it cleaned up. Long story short, had a long road trip and dealer was stalling. Soon as it was raining they drove it around and was dark. Next day had a big scratch in the paint and looked like they tried to buff with steal wool. 3 paint jobs later the dealer made it right.
Now I forsure will never sign..had I known i would have made them get another truck..dealers suck

I tried to get them to not detail my 4R when I bought it. Told them I will take care of it.

They still did most of it but they did leave the plastic on most of the stuff and I took care of it. I don't need some 19 year old trying to detail my car in a rush to get it out the door.

Is the new screen a hard surface like an iPhone or the new Tacoma screens? Or is it the soft stuff like the older 5th gen 4runners?

I tell them the same thing. That being said, you've also been at the dealership like 5 hours at that point, so you just want to go home lol. So irritating...especially when you know exactly what you want, how much you want to pay for it, and how you're going to pay.

5 hours? Huh? You can shorten 5 hours to a lot less by getting up and walking away OFF THE BAT. Gets the point across in one minute after they go ectremely high, homie not messing around. THEY WILL EITHER LOWER THE PRICE ON THE SPOT OR AN HOUR LATER WHEN YOU GO HOME or stick around somewhere. Manufactures need to simplify things stop the back and forth games.

Thats why I use Costco Auto Program - this the price BAMM off the bat. Got my 4 runner 500 bucks above invoice on my 2020.

Got my new 18 yamaha 450 quad through costco too. No bs no games no back and forth games no prep fee no markup bs. Price, sign, and trailer it.

Exact same issue in my 2020 TRD Pro I bought a little over a week ago. Around 300 miles on it and drove it for the first time today in the daylight. It looks really bad when the light hits it just right. Took a photo using my iPhone. I’ve reached out to the dealer as well. I was just casually going through this forum and had to sign up after I noticed the OP had my same issue!
