I've never had an SUV before just open beds, and after a trip to the coast last weekend I realized it's the only thing I need for camping anymore. The lady that came with mentioned it felt like a little movie theater and that got me thinking. I have the screen and pocket projector for that route but what if I was to get a little flat screen and mount it hooked to the ceiling? Has anyone else done this or have pics? I'd also need a bigger power source than what the pocket projector uses, any suggestions there or am I going to be stuck with wiring in a camper outlet?

So you need something bigger, or would an I-Pad work?

In my roof top tent, or regular ground-tent, I hang an iPad/tablet to the ceiling using para cord. If you have a case on the tablet you can use it as a tie point (so you don’t have to block the screen) and get the device to hang at a good angle for viewing. Works pretty good!

I have been having the same idea for a year now, for tailgating. And Hulu stream the pregame etc. Hotspot off phone.
Power, have thought of deep cycle, and inverter, but the "Need to" isn't there.
I have thought as far as a flip down mounting bracket and quick disconnect for a small led tv..say 30" or less, for weight... but where on roof to attach? Only structure is the sheet metal, and don't want to make holes like that.

Other idea is a 42" that I just pack for the day, and bolster with...stuff.. to keep upright, on the cargo floor.

The group we hang with though already made the Need To part obsolete.
They bought a Honda gas gen, 2000w, and run a directtv mobile unit.. out of pocket about 1200.
Mine would be about 25% of that.

I DO like the baby projector idea. Maybe a simple screen in the back and you're set.

Definitely want to hear how others have done something similar!

    With all due respect.
It is camping (unless overlanding). Have fun in the sun. Drink & have fun in the sheets.
I see no need for movies when camping or out of town. We went to downtown Denver last year (before the T4R) for a week in a VROB & never once turned the tv on.
Used the hiking & "tourist" to get us asleep.

Camping is camping, yes. To each their own. Whether Rou hhh ing it and overland, or GLAMping in a 3slide 5thwheel... i was hunting last year and me and buddies wanted to watch a good war movie after dinner, and only have a pos DVD player that we would have to huddle around, so we just BSed more. And tailgating is other reason some to want this.
I agree, get Out and unplug, but some everyone has their own idea of Getting out. ;)
