What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

The thieves that can do something with your liscence plate are the ones that will take that.
Hack your accounts, second mortgage your house or who knows.
The less "personal" information that is visible is just a piece of security and anonymity.

I don’t think a plate can give you much return info besides address and name. That information is everywhere. You can find anyone’s address and name off internet sites. I doubt they would benefit much from a plate.

 

You would have to ask a cop or thief.
I rather be safe.

The thieves smart enough to get that much personal info from a plate... Don't even need your plate. They can get the same info from your IP address that you surf the internet with.

If thieves were using plate numbers they'd most likely just walk outside and start writing down local plate numbers... So much easier than searching through hundreds of pages on forums..

I got no issues with people hiding their plates... I was genuinely just curious... If doing so makes people feel safer then more power to them...

But i don't try and hide mine... A thief smart enough to find out all of my info will only be disappointed by my credit score and bank account

It just limits exposure of your info online. In fact, license plate privacy might be more important online than in person. Many of us show off mods and such on these forums. And being most of us have the same vehicle, a dishonest person with the same vehicle sort of has a list of who has what here. Your vehicle being seen at the store is random and probably seen less than online. I suppose a skilled person may get the info they want regardless, but why make it easier for less skilled people?

 

Just photoshop a different plate on there so that a would be thief hacker guy gets sent on a wild goose chase

Cyber crooks basically have a shopping list of what they want and where they can get it.
Try not to give out work, family or any other information to these dickheads. Ruins it for the 99% honest people but welcome to the 21st century

Looks good. Do you have a pic of the brackets you made from angle iron? I just installed an SSO rack and was eyeing the ARB 2000. What do you think of the side curtains? Had them in any wind?

Hi everyone, I am new to the site. I have a 2017 4Runner and not sure about Toytec suspencion or OME and about Total chaos Upper arms or JBA. I will be placing a front ARB bumber and rear CBI bumper. No winch right now. Any suggestions greatly welcomed.

My recommendation is the ToyTec for the reason that they are "infinitely" adjustable without removing them. You adjust the collar to maintain ride height as you add weight up front. That was a huge selling point for me when I was shopping for a lift. There are a lot of control arms out there. IMO, stick will ball joint arms and stay away from uniball arms. While uniballs are great, they are more work than they are worth. A lot of maintenance and there is no benefit in terms of articulation. Ball joint arms at this point have the same range of motion as uniball arms do.

 

I feel the engine run smoother, no need to mash the go peddle to the floor iot pass people at highway speeds and i believe it cut down on the smell from the cats when the window is down. Only had it on for a day, feels like the A/F mixture is more efficient. Of course i have no hard data.

 

Awesome, can you post an update in a week or 2? Do you recommend the trd intake or another? That's one thing on my todo list

 

I run the TRD kit cause it purdy. Not sure about the others. I can update in the future. Keep in mind i don't count every gal per mile. My stead gets thirsty i give it drink (most have drinking problems) so I'm not the one for gas mileage questions.

Of course there's a thread on the "other" site.

 

Looks Great! … So about how much did they charge for labor, materials & paint? … Not much of a slant on the wind deflector or wind fairing; any issues with that?

 

Rack completed with powder coating was 950 installed.
The angle is adjustable but so far no notice wind noise.
