Anyone have any experience with leaks? is there a common issue with them or do they need to be changed if they leak?

Over time seals will harden or dry out and start to leak. It’s more to do with time and environment than miles. Sitting unused is the worst. The only real fix is to have the item (pump or cylinder) replaced or rebuilt.

Of course a 15(ish) year old vehicle is going to develop a leak somewhere, hell even a 100-K+ super car will. Get the source of the leak fixed whatever that entails, live with it, or get rid of the vehicle. Three pretty simple and only options.
