Hello everyone, just joined the forum and need help with brake issues in my 98 3.4L 4runner. The car shakes really bad when i am in the process of breaking; the shakingis both in the front and back of the car. The shaking starts at about 30% into breaking and stops either when i take off my foot off the break or when the car comes to a complete stop. The faster the car is going the worse is the saking. I have done a lot work to the brakes already and nothing has helped. I replaced the rear drums and breaks, front discs and break pads and both front calipers as well. Im completely confused on what is causing the shaking and definitely loosing my patience with this issue already. Any insight or ideas of what might solve this issue would greatly be of assistance.

    Thanks in advance

Foolish question but did you have the rotors turned when you did the front brakes? I have a 2000 Tundra that had an issue with the rotors warping, and it would almost shake me off the road when I brewed. Toyota replaced them 3 times under warranty then i replaced the factory rotors with EBC and the the problem went away.

No i did not turned the rotors. I figured since they were new they would not need that. But was definitely thinking of doing both front and back this weekend so see if maybe that would help. Thanks for the input and yes, brewed is definitely more fun. :)

Id check tire balancing, tie rods, wheel bearings and at this point. I assume you bled the brakes already, but if not thats important too.

Yes, i bled the brakes when i changed the front two calipers. I did not check if the tires are properly balanced but had them replaced early 2019. Will do that after taking the front disc and the back drums resurfaced. I have also not checked the wheel baring, will also do that once i remove the brakes this weekend. Thanks for your input.

Glad to help. After you resurface, have someone watch your calipers and make sure everything grabs when you hit the brakes.

I had the same issue after having installed new calipers, pads and rotors last year. It was perfect for 12 months then started this year. Was driving me crazy.

Later realized one of the calipers seized and must have warped the rotor. If youve had a caliper seize, replace that rotor.

I did the 213 mm Tundra upgrade on my 98 runner. Took all the shake out of it.
That being said, I did all the control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, and ball joints.... So I may have overcome the issue in general... BUT..... It stops with no shakes.
