2006 JBL no sound

2006 Limited with JBL system (no NAV)
Replaced the radio with Pioneer unit 5 years ago using the adapters to convert the RCA on radio to use the stock amp and speakers, worked great for 5 years. The other day it suddenly stooped producing sound. Radio looks like it works fine but no sound from any source. I checked all fuses for amp and all good. So I replaced the Pioneer radio and still no sound. Figuring it had to be the Toyota amp in the back I bought a factory amp off Ebay and installed it and same issue.

What next? I just want sound not some crazy aftermarket system just music for wife. I don't know what to try please give any input you have.

You mean the adapter box from pioneer radio to factory harness? No.

 

Sorry. Re read your post it's a factory amp. You checked the radio #2 fuse under the hood? I believe it's a 20 amp fuse

Either your deck is bad, your amp is bad or wiring from the deck to amp is bad. I would hook up a known good speaker to your amp. If it doesn't work I would then hook it up directly to your deck. If it works you then know either wiring is bad or the amp is bad and go from there.

 

All good ideas. I don't know the wiring to factory Amp so I can't hook up test speaker. Please provide if you have it, I have covered the internet with out luck. The sound from the deck is rca That is line level and won't power a speaker.

 

I don't exactly know how the 4 runner audio is wired I'm just going of experience with other vehicles. If you have RCAs running from your deck to your amp I would suspect they are bad. You don't really need to know the wiring to test a speaker. Pop a door panel unhook the speaker and hook up the known good speaker. If you weren't running an amp your deck can still power speakers. You would unhook the RCAs from the deck and follow the wiring diagram for your deck to hook a speaker directly to the deck. You will most likely have to cut and splice wires, disconnect and reconnect. This is the only way I can think of tracking down the problem. If you don't feel comfortable doing it I would take it to an audio shop and have them test everything.

 

Well ya see, to hook up an aftermarket deck on a JBL system you use the RCA output of the deck and go to this adapter that connects behind the radio to the factory wires that go to the factory amp. I cant find a wiring diagram for the factory amp so testing is hard.

You should be able to use the harness that your deck came with to test a speaker. Essentially hook up power and ground to the deck and then the known good speaker. After reading the reviews for the adapter you are using intermittent sound is one of the main issues. I would replace it.
