Dont know much about this other than what poster has posted. But this is about 290 miles away as opposed to the other 4runner. And "looks" to have been well cared for. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

V8? Heck that's a great deal. Bud nice truck. Us new guys have to stick together. I mean I am very knowledgable with my rav4's and ISF's not 4runner prices. Nobody that is senior or has knowledge usually wants to bother

That is a good deal, that's half of what I paid for mine last year but these seems to cost more where I'm at for some reason.

Referring to the OP, I may be biased but I prefer the V8 over the V6. They each have their own quirks and issues but they're both great engines. V8 gets not great fuel mileage, I'm averaging around 16MPG combined. Early 4th gen V6's have issues with the head gaskets letting go, I have a cousin that had to have a new engine put in his '03 because he didn't catch it soon enough and warped his heads. That black '06 may not have that issue, not sure what year they fixed it. V6 is a timing chain engine, V8 is belt. V8 is full time AWD with a locking center diff, V6 has a normal 2WD/4WD setup. Depending on where the two have lived be sure to check the frames for significant rust. Otherwise I prefer white over black as it's easier to take care of and keep looking nice. The '06 is the first year of the refresh, so it has the LED taillights and projector headlights, different dash cluster, and slightly different body trim. Hatchback rust on the '06 is a little concerning, if it's rusting on the outside I don't want to see what the inside is looking like. Good luck!

Thanks for the response. The more I keep looking the more I keep finding cheaper ones lol. My ISF is black. Ya very hard to keep up on. The rust onto he outside tailgate could be slimy due to washing it to much depending where it is occurring. My thoughts. Water being trapped anywhere over a period of time is an issue on any car. That is of course and educated guess. So I am more inclined to think that wa . I can always ask the owner.

Got my car on 10/16/19, (In order) TRD Racing aftermarket license plate frame, Silicone license plate frame pad, WeatherTech front/back floorliner (grey), TRD Pro 17" OEM (matte black) wheels, BFG A/T K02 265/70/17, Anzo Halo Headlights,Bilstein 6112 + 5160 setup, Eibach 1" Rear Springs, Mobil1 Extended Performance synthetic oil and more to come.
Recently purchased an OOS '08 4Runner sight unseen. Did so by getting a pre-inspection by a highly-rated mechanic in the city the car was. I also emailed the mechanic a list of additional inspection questions they answered without issue.

Another thing you can do is pick up a OBD2 scan tool off Amazon. I used it on about fifteen 4Runners before I found 'the one'. I cannot tell you how much I learned from it.

FYI - Most 4th gens are going to have issues related to the ABS sensors. Its nothing to worry about.
