My 4runner will drive fine, then every once in a while as i am driving it wont engage. Ill be accelerating then it will rev up and not go into a gear. Any ideas?

Did you check the fluid? If it’s low the pump will suck in air and make the transmission slip. That’s being optimistic though....... It could be a worn out clutch pack, which means a rebuild will be in order. If the fluid is dark and gritty you might be SOL and have to make a trip to the transmission shop. Try flushing the fluid too. It’s a crap shoot, it will either help, or make it worse.

I just did the fluid about two months ago because i did a tranny swap. Fluid is at a good level and isn't dark. So would it still be the clutch pack?
