My answer to: What do the colors really mean?
Being a retired scientist and wanting to keep my bags of corn chips as crispy as possible, I had to find out how effective these packets are at different weights and colors. Of course, the benefit of this product having color-changing pellets is that you don't need to weigh them and instead can use the pellet color as your indicator for how much moisture absorption mojo they have left. For those of you who prefer not to look at graphs, my take-home message was this: If the little pellets have orange or red left in them, then I keep using them because they have greater than 33% of their absorption strength remaining. Once they are mostly green or darker, then it's time to swap them out. Now, feel free to tap that 'helpful' button and peace out. For those of you who do like to look at graphs, check out the image provided. It shows the color variation by how much moisture it absorbed. I left a brand-new packet out for 48 hours at room temperature and 65% humidity. I intermittently recorded the time, weight and color. From those data points, I was able to derive this graph. As you might expect, the absorbency rate decreases as the packet becomes gradually more saturated. This experiment used a 10g packet; the weights and absorption rates would scale proportionally. But color as an indication of absorption strength should remain consistent across products sizes. Enjoy geeking out and please hit me a 'helpful'. It encourages me to do more reviews like this. I had a leaky windshield seal in my old car which allowed a ton of water to leak into my car during the winter rains. OMG, did I have a lot of moisture inside, including a little puddle in a coin holder!! What a mess!
These bags worked great to remove the moisture and humidity quickly and efficiently! I dried them out in the oven per the instructions and kept reusing them until all the moisture was gone. While doing that, I also purchased silicone sealant and sealed the windshield so that it didn't leak further. I highly recommend these. Oh, and it made the car smell a lot better once the moisture was out, too. I thought it just smelled bad because of my dog, but the dampness + dog = MUCH worse stink! LOL!

I use these to keep the windshield and inside of my car dry to prevent condensation. If it’s cold out, the windshield tends to fog up, but just putting one of these up on the dashboard and you won’t even need your defroster!
These are especially helpful if you live in a (very cold) place where any water vapor on the inside of your windshield will freeze, which is both annoying and obstructs your view of the road.
I just keep them in the car and recharge them as need be, the microwave tends to be the easiest way.

There is a lot of capacity in these packets, and are simple to "recharge" when needed. It's easy to monitor their present capacity as its gaged by weight. The weight corresponds to % of capacity left. It's printed right on each bag, so no need to look up the specs on-line, just weigh them. If it needs to be "recharged", it can be easily done in an oven at low heat, or in a microwave, and you're back in business. Instructions are printed on the bag. Very Happy with these.

I bought a new/used truck. Smelled like my Grandpa's farm trucks. The carpet was wet for some reason, and I didn't make it better by putting resolve on the carpet to clean it some. It was a bad time to do it too because it's been raining and cold. My son suggested leaving the truck running with the heater on full blast. No thanks.

I started looking that the silicone packs and I knew they would do the trick, but I wasn't aware of how fast or how well.

I put two in , and got the largest ones. The exact spot where the packets were placed were bone dry within a half hour, but only where the packets were placed. The carpet was just damp, not soaked. I just move them around in the truck until the whole carpet is dry
I haven't had to put them on the oven or microwave yet, so the truck isn't terribly wet/damp. Now that the carpet is drying and I've also changed the filters, the truck is starting to smell better.

These are great, but keep your expectations reasonable and you won't be disappointed. I don't want to buy another set, but if I have this issue again, I would buy a second set to make the car dry faster.
