That seems to be about the sweet spot. I hope I never see the 15(ish) mpg some people mention that's to low for my liking. It is what it is I guess.

SR5 V6 2007 4x4 22.4 for the past 12 years. On highway can run 24-25, if all town driving, can get down to 20.1. Winter blend gas also drops my avg.

So did a little experiment. Two 1.5 hour long highway trips on each tank with the rest of the tanks mixed driving. First tank with 87 octane it got 19.6 mpg. Second tank with 93 octane no ethanol gas, got 20.5 mpg. The no ethanol premium was about sixty cents more than the 87...clearly not worth it. But the motor feels smoother and seems to have more power although slightly.

Hmmm.. yeah interesting so not worth it financially but who knows in the long run it your doing anything for your engine. However even if you are when are you going to notice it 200,000 miles?? At that point all the extra money you would of saved you could afford a new engine anyway. :ohsnap:

I would think no ethanol would be more beneficial than anything. Ethanol sucks.

Just went through the first tank after buying my 98 T4R. Got 14 mpg, which isnt too bad considering it has a 3" lift, 33" tires, sat in idle a long time for detail (shampoo'd fabric and carpet) and made several long trips full of heavy boxes as I moved this past weekend.

Im hoping for 16-18 mpg this next tank!

Update: Im averaging 17-19 mpg mostly highway driving since that first tank I went through when I bought my T4R. Not bad for a vehicle with 3" lift and 33" tires! I drive fairly conservatively, taking it easy going from a stop until out of first gear, ramping it up a bit in 2nd and 3rd, then for highway speeds getting 4th gear to overdrive and maintaining as much as possible. Usually stay within 65-70 mph.

Ive never had or even driven a vehicle before that had a 4 spd auto tranny. Its been interesting, and oddly I kinda like it. Its fairly engaging with how much it can kinda be controlled or manipulated by my foot on the gas peddle in its shifting. Most engaging an auto transmission has ever been to me, which is pretty cool since Im used to enjoying manuals.

I've achieved 28 mpg in a 2nd gen tacoma V6 (2wd), posted on Tacoma World for those who want to see it. I will have to see what I can get out of my new 3rd gen once I start driving her around.

21 highway in summer if I'm lucky. 19-20 is more realistic. 16 in winter. All-around average I sit right around 18.

MPG is pretty consistent in a stock T4R. Surprises are seldom, based on my attention to the forums and my personal experience.

Did 400 miles round trip and pretty happy with results. Going up 65 to 80 but long runs were 70 cruise on.. got 20mpg
Coming home had time to kill so tried something that pissed alot of people off. Right lane cruise set 60. Had a 20 minute jamb in indianapolis between 5 to 20 mph.
That 200 mile got me 23.5mpg I'll never do it again. Believe it or not I passed a guy when I was doing 60

I would caution against letting it go to e often. Did that in my tacoma and I had to replace the fuel pump.

Lol, as long as there is fuel in the pump to prevent damage and your tank is free from contaminants then it's not an issue. And if one was to burn out, drop the tank and change it.

Do you filter your gas each time to fill up. I think not, no one is immune from a lazy gas station dude not keeping filters clean. It's alittle easier to keep has in the tank than drop it

I think yes... Technically. Being there's a filter before the pump and again in the fuel line after the pump. So yes I filter it every time I fill up.

Another good practice is never fill up at a station if the tanker is there, they stir all kinds of shiznit sitting in the tanks.
