Went and picked up the roof rack today. Bunch of good guys here at this place. I think I'm gonna ceramic coat the roof before installing it....

 

Not to be argumentative,
I want to learn.
We did not ceramic coat our ceiling due to roof rack & awning with tent (dog).
Anyhow, why ceramic coat what is covered? It may be a stupid question but I have to ask...

Well I was thinking I won't be able to easily wax the roof after the rack is installed. Plus I'm not totally sure about a rtt so it may not be covered. An if it is covered, the roof finish will be good for years with ceramic coating. By the way I already have the ceramic coating I purchased over a year ago and have not used yet so there is that

 

I thought you were going to pay someone.
I am under the assumption that if the paint & etc is covered. Even if you take it all off once a year, it should be fine.
Knowing you have the product. Just apply via the directions and enjoy the benefits!

As I am sure you know, I xpel wrapped ours. We should keep up in the ceramic coating thread so that we can compare results.
My wrap is having problems in areas & with a 10 yr warranty I need to get them addressed!

 

Yes I have been following closely. Still think with a black vehicle you made a good decision. I do feel there is no way for something like that to be completely perfect just because of the sheer size of it all and all the curves and stuff on the body. Pretty awesome warranty for something like that

 

Before installing the rack... Coating the roof is a great idea. Every so often, I'd dampen a towel with some spray sealant and wipe it around under the rack with a broom stick or something (if that's even possible). Sort of a periodic booster for the coating to extend its life (if you're obsessive with your truck like I am).

Alternatively, you could do something like McKees Hydro or Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Spray as maintenance. Spray it under/through the rack and blast it off with a hose.
