About 45 minutes. Clayed it first then polished then sprayed it with carpro eraser and then the ceramic coating.

I really appreciate the input. I'm still really torn.

It's tempting to have a good detail shop do it as I would think it should yield the best results.

On the other hand, the money saved by doing it myself would cover a lot of goodies.

Started waxing mine last night got half done will finish it tonight. Just Meguires waxing vehicles sucks I hate it. Having it detailed (waxed) maybe from now on. Vehicle seems to grow even bigger when you wax it.
I just don't "enjoy" it not my way to pass time.

I must shamefully admit that I haven't waxed a car in probably 15 years. Automatic washes only. This is the first car in years that I have spent so much time cleaning and working on.

Check out Chemical guys website and click training at the top right and you will get 60/70 vids on DIY.....

One good thing with their website if they still do it there is a video on each product how to use when you click the product...

I saw some of their products at Wallyworld. I was looking at interior cleaning products. I wound up with some turtle wax spray I'm pretty happy with.

I might check that out. I am using Meguiars VLR on the softex and pretty happy, but still open to trying something different.

I just used Meguirars Ultimate Quik Wax Spray for the first time the other day. Holy shit that was so much better than using paste wax. Car was waxed in less than an hour. How long has this stuff been around? How long can I expect it to last vs paste wax?

Quick touch up won't last very long I'm thinking the packaging might say 30 days but just guessing.

Try buffing 3 years worth of scratches out of one, guys! That’s what I’ve been working on the past week and it totally sucks!
I just got home at 8:40pm from working all day, and now I’m in my shop working again. Can barely walk cause my back is still jacked up bad BUT, I’m still upright so that’s a positive lol

Why yes I am! I think it’s the only thing keeping me upright. I worked on a doctors home all day today. She noticed I was walking all jacked to the right side and said i must be having severe back issues. She referred me to a pain doctor to help me out. I need some relief bad. With the war on opiates, it’s difficult to find a doctor to prescribe real pain meds. All the druggies out there have ruined it for honest people in need. I can’t take synthetic pain meds, it raises my body temperature so high it caused me to have a heat stroke last year.

I’ve got a very long history of back problems, two herniated dicks, 5 bulging disks, and degenerative disk disease. I’m a very physical guy. I’m Hard on my body...

Yeah, leave it to junkies to screw things up for everyone. I think that a chiropractor or physical therapy is probably a better long term solution, though. It sucks when you get a few years on you and you start feeling all of the stupid shit you did when you were young.

Been there and done it! I went to a pain management specialist for 4 years when I herniated the first disk. Then I discovered chiropractic and inversion tables. I’ve been off of pain meds for about 15 years now. But those just aren’t helping anymore. I’ve used those, several epedurals, and trigger point injections as well but no relief. My career choice doesn’t make things any better but after spending 24 years wearing dress clothes, sitting in meetings all day, and being confined in doors, I’ll suffer through any pain to be working outdoors and have 4 months off every year.

Sounds rough! Having a career that you enjoy is pretty great, though. Many people hate their jobs. I'm lucky enough to generally enjoy my work, and work with people I like.

Yes, I am an OCD researcher who only wants the best for our trucks.
My first job was at a car wash! I worked in the oil change bay but loved to visit the detail room.
As you may notice; I have a great love of all vehicles (trucks, sports cars, super cars... anything with an engine really.)
    Hope it helps someone...

I have a buddy who works in the industry of detailing equipment. He has the tools and knowledge to properly prepare the truck and apply a ceramic coating.

Lucky for me, he's looking to get some electrical work done. Looks like were going to work out a barter. Woohoo!

I probably won't get it done until June. I'm going to try to help or watch and learn. I'll post updates here. Can't wait to see the results!

    Congratulations!
Just be aware that all the imperfections and crap stuck in the paint until then will need to be removed.
    I learned a lot Monday.
A spotless looking white vehicle, can be filthy under bright light.
We got ours in with 900 miles on her.
    Again, congratulations.
    The stuff is amazing.
    You will enjoy it!
