Hi Everyone. This my first post even tho Ive had my 4runner since June of 2014. She's been good to me so far but its time to get some new tires. I just hit 27k and even tho the tires are still in decent shape they are gettting old. As you can see in the pic I got a flat tire so had to put on that spare.

Now since I need new tires in the near future I'm considering getting new wheels too. Ive never been a big fan of the stock wheels. Plus they are so tall and narrow. I want to get a decent quality wheel, but something a bit wider, Im thinking still want 20s, with similar type of tire. I don't really do any off roading and I want to put something on that keeps it the same or as close to OEM. Meaning I don't want my speedo to be off, or drastically change the ride. So Im looking for recommendations for wheels and tires. Probably something mostly black, maybe with some accents. After doing a bit of searching on line there are so many options Im hoping for some suggestions from those that know. :) Thanks in advance.

i'm kinda in the same boat. i'm looking into getting a 2014 - 2016 limited, but i dont like the 20" wheels. last week during the TRD 40yr sale, i was able to get a set of matt black trd wheels. i think these wheels would look awesome on your pearl white.... or is it blizzard pearl :)

Lol, you are correct sir, it is blizzard pearl! I bought it back in June of 2014 and had forgotten. :) I do like those wheels. What size are they and where can I find them? I presume I missed the sale. Ive made a few calls and so far seems like Im sort of limited because of the 20 x 7 OEM wheels. Some of the wheels I looked at (20x9 or 20x10) Im told won't fit properly unless I have a leveling kit or lift kit. I guess those wheels are so tall and narrow for a reason. I definitely don't want wheels that stick out past the gaurds.

been looking at modding a limited for a few months now and i've never seen a pearl white. i've only seen blizzard pearl (limited) and of course super white (non-limited) but i believe the blizzard pearl was available 2009 - 2014 in all trims :)

as for the wheels, all dealerships have them. but you can probably find a better price on ebay. PTR2035110BK is the wheel part number. you can also add a leveling kit with 285/70/17 :)

There are a set of 5 back TRD wheels for sale half way down on home site.
    Hope it helps.

Black on black, that looks very nice. :) How does that ride at highway speeds compared to the OEM wheels and tires?

I see that post, nice deal if I could pick up local. Shipping cost from CA to FL I think will kill that deal.

    I didn't see your location.
Yeah, that is probably a no go.
Maybe worth the time to look into shipping at least...

They're a little louder but not enough to be a bother.

Yeah those st maxx are very quiet for as much tread is in them, I had those on my taco and loved them, very tough tire and great in just about all conditions...

Thanks for all the replies. The more I look a wheels and tires the more undecided Ive become. :) My orginal plan was stay with 20in wheels but most aftermarkerts are 9in or wider and seems that won't work unless I have a lift kit or leveling kit and I really don't plan on doing either. I see most go to the 17in but I get the feeling most do that so can get an off road tire and not sure thats what I want to do. My 4runner is a pavement dweller, ...off road for me is parking in the grass. I live in South FL, we don't even have hills here. :) Considering 18in but is 9in still to wide? Would this size tire fit properly on it? 265/65/18. What I don't want is a tire that sticks out past the wheel well or that rubs.

Is anyone running these TRD wheels?

For aftermarket Im also looking at:

    Relations Race Wheels
    Black Rhino
    KMC
    ION

You can always get 17s and put a less aggressive tire on it. Mine isnt getting offroaded. The wife wanted the aggressive look for her mall crawler. Happy wife happy life.

True, and I do like those TRD wheels. Plus they are very light weight and designed for Toyota. I found a local Toyota dealer that has them $197 each. Its just when I pictured getting new wheels I never thought about going smaller wheel, bigger tire. This week I'll be visiting the local wheel shop, MrWheels. It will help to see my options in person.

After a lot of looking, I think this is what Im going with: BlackRhino Mozambique w/TOYO TIRES Proxes ST II - 275/55R20

    20x8.5 / 6x139.70 / 15 offset / 5.400 backspace / 112.0 wheel bore / 28 lbs - Rotorary Forged

I've been told this will fit with no rub, if anyone knows different please let me know. Mount, balance, wheel sensors etc Im looking at about $2200.

Finally got the new wheels and tires installed the other day. I ended up going with the Goodyear Eagle Sport tires because it offers more rim protecting since it sits recessed on the tire. Im still trying to get used to how it drives, I def feel a difference.

I had this done at a local wheel and tire shop, Mr Wheels. They do a lot of other stuff including lifts, bumpers, cold air intake, tunes etc, ...check out the 4runner XP with a 6 inch lift.

Major improvement! It's still baffling to me that Toyota put those 245s on an SUV of this size:smack:

Its the one thing Ive never liked about the 4runner. And really noticable when I saw the wheels and tires side by side at the wheel shop.

Hi! I got my 4Runner used and modified, actually looking for an original set of rims and smaller tires for roadway driving if you’re interested in selling yours.

I do love the new look on yours, though.

Sorry I missed this from months ago :) Im holding on to them for now. I actually had some issues with the GoodYear Sport All Season tires. They just would not balance properly, even after trying to force match them. I now have the Toyo Proxes ST III. Unfortunately they do rub a bit when in reverse and I cut the wheel (not even at full lock, just partial) but its very slight, just a bit annoying more than anything.

Kiote4R did you get any rubbing with an 8 1/2 in wide wheel?

Anyone try a 9” wide wheel on the 5th gen Limited with the Bilstein 5100 leveling kit? Would that work with out cutting?
