What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I wipe stuff down really well with denatured alcohol and then do half a dozen coats as well

 

The "G35xs" will be missed but never forgotten.
With awd & snow tires, that would easily go through 1.5 feet of snow!
The thing was a beast. As an '08 it was killing us in repairs. Even the Infiniti dealership couldn't fix it.
No buyers remorse. We love our T4R!

 

Painted my skid plate today and fabbed a bracket to attach a solonoid/battery isolater for my dual battery system to my custom fuse/relay box. Gotta have power when I’m glamping it up in my rooftop tent

 

Also I received my Toytec 3/2 springs.. Getting them powder coated tomorrow

That's some intense glare coming off those headlights. Do you get flashed much?

 

It's what they label as "5+", but its essentially the same diameter as what most others would label as 4 gauge.

 

Actually I did for a week or so I took that pic right after the installing my HID’s but then I didn’t want to be “that guy” so I lowered them and I have not been flashed since.

Not sure how I missed this.
It is a Trav all TDG 1576 specifically designed for the 5th gen's.
It was advertised as rattle free. It is silent!
You are even able to recline the back seats with this installed! I put a sleeping bag in between for emergencies and park visits.
Here is me installing it just a few days after getting it & not knowing there is no rear latch.
I hope there is an emergency one under the panel (I need to look!).
I will add more pictures tomorrow as it is dark outside now.
Would reccomend & buy again!
It locks against both windows, in the cargo cover slot & then tightens to the front hooks in the floor! This thing is solid!

Was very easy. The logo was tougher than the 4Runner letters but it turned out ok as well.

 

Looks great. I've been dealing with Rich at TVD. They are going to try to help me with some custom center cap decals. Actually mailing off a paint sample to them today to see how close they can get to matching it.

I've been thinking of ordering the black out letters overlay, but paint to match the silver trd off road emblems. i have a 14 sr5 and i think im going to go with the nautical blue and silver theme

 

Do it! It's a fun little project. I suggest making a little jig to prop them up so you can get full coverage. I did mine this weekend and painted them in Cavalry Blue (color code 8W2). Was going to clear coat them last night with my center caps but the center caps project hit a road bump (a trial and error me bump) and now I'm back to having to repaint them again before clearing. So I'll hold off and just do it all at once after I get the damn center caps to behave.

Ordered the Apex Overland recovery points (only 9 left, better hurry) and an electrical tray. More money out of the wallet.

 

He's a great guy and helped me create the first red TRD overlays

 

I pulled mine, thinking of painting and putting "TRD off road" in the lower corner of the hatch. I just don't feel like cutting tiny bits of adhesive tape.

 

Razor blade or exacto knife would make all that cutting so much easier and faster. You could cut a super thin strip while it's still on the roll with a razor blade.

Threw these Westin Pro Traxx 5's on tonight. Way happier with these. I'm way into on-roading with my 4Runner and do it all the time. So I'm thinking these should work out just fine.


Actually....I couldn't believe how easy these were to put on compared to the other steps with the sliding bolts in the under rails. Absolutely zero lining up since there was pre-drilled holes and everything labeled what it was and where it went. Just keep everything a little loose until you have it all attached and then tighten up as you go. Might be kind of hard to get some of the bolts in threading by hand under the truck. I threw the bolt in a socket head with an extension arm on it. Then started them off by hand that way. Probably need to run up to the parts store and see if they will let me use their torque wrench in the parking lot..haha.

 

Got the stock bumper off and cut in preparation for the C4Fab bumper.

 

I would love to see how it turns out when you have it installed. Did you get a light bar/winch setup? I’m thinking of doing mine as well.. hoping they come out with a high-clearance mod to go with it.

 

Put stickers on my inner hatch! Also scuffed up my Toytec springs and dropped them off to get them powder coated black... also removed the blue sticker from my battery isolating solonoid and ordered a black TRD sticker to replace it...
