Wednesday of the first week of the new year, I decided to make the drive to Steamboat to hit the slopes for the day. It was F'n COLD! At 65 mph the heat seemed to struggle a bit to keep up, or it was just cold air radiating from the windows, either way it was legit cold. My windshield crack got a quite a bit bigger during the drive lol.

Totally worth it in the end, the groomers were a bit skied out but if you skied down Double Black EX wall with trees it dropped you into a bowl filled with untouched shin deep powder.

    Check out that dash temp!!!!

It’s ski season! More trails and mountains once it warms up and dries out. In the mean time, more ski trip pics are uploading from our 12 person trip :)

I've always wanted to drop that tight chute down the face of that rock but I've never gotten to it with good enough snow to not destroy my skis in the process. I finally got to do it.

Out with the old Phillips Vision interior lights
    [IMG]

In with the new Arc Light LEDs. Stupid high powered and the black button changes them back and forth between red and white. Red light doesn't mess wiht your night vision and it doesn't attract bugs, perfect for camping.

I had a couple quick projects today.

Yesterday I stopped by Toytec and grabbed one of the 10mm OME rear trim spacers to put on the left rear to fix the slight lean in the rear. I installed that today.

I also picked up an OEM TRD fuel tank skid. My Limited comes with a small little skid protecting the front edge a bit but leaves most of the gas tank exposed. I've been wanting to get a RCI aluminum fuel tank skid to go with the rest of mine but I got this locally for $30, it was worth it to me.

The last project was the parking brake. My parking brake has felt like a soggy bag of shit for a while so I decided to pull it all apart. I pulled the rotors/parking brake drums, dissembled, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled the brake shoes and all the hardware. Once it was all buttoned up I adjusted them for a much tighter pedal and a ton more bite. For a while now applying the parking brake on a hill it would still slowly roll gently back to the parking pawl. It holds nice and firm now.

Those arc lights look awesome. I wanted to do red up front and maybe on the hatch, but being able to switch them sounds like a winner. now i gotta save up for these too haha

They are awesome but the install is not as straight forward as it’s supposed to be on earlier 5th gens. The main dome light for example can’t be installed without modifying the housing.

they come with detailed instructions, they just don't fully apply to early models.

More snow. Copper got dumped on, I drove up the morning after the snow. I beat an avalanche closing the highway by minutes but it meant the resort was empty. Like it was so empty it was kind of eerie. I only road 1 chair all day that I had to share with another person.

So much fresh snow they couldn't even get the groomers flat.

Southern Style Offroad roof rack with C4 ladder. They are a perfect paring in my opinion. Black with silver, angular, exposed bolt heads, the clearance between them is perfect, easy to install all of it solo.

Every so often I'll get a tick sound over bumps which means its time to retorque the skid plate bolts. I had my 3rd year apprentice double check everything.

Last update for today, potentially for a while while I wait on a whole bunch of pieces and parts to build out the lighting and electrical. I picked up a new OEM dash compartment (2014+ style) and got switches mounted how I want them. I was hoping the fit was going to be a little closer than it was was, it took quite a bit of subtle shaping to get it to sit exactly how I wanted it to but it came out pretty damn good in my opinion.

Ok I lied, a had a couple other small things I did this week. I was buyingnoil change parts and a PCV was only like $4 so I throughbin a new PCV valve. Also There’s a local dude with new TuRD Pro that installed a ladder with a bunch of accessories so he replaced his hatch struts with heavy duty ones. Mine being 8 years and 115,000 miles old we’re getting weak and he was willing to give away his OEM ones (I gave him $10 to buy a 6-Pack of good beer), so I installed those as well. No more saggy hatch.
