For future lurkers- I got one of these knobs on Amazon. I installed it and it was tight but there was a little bit of "play" in it. There is a threaded plastic insert in the knob that is attached by a Philips head screw. If you have any play in your knob, you'll need to insert an extra long Philips screw driver and tighten the threaded insert. Then reinstall and the "play" will be gone.

Hmmm thanks I'll need to look at mine when it's lined up there's not enough room for another full turn it'll stop half way to tight. So there's something to adjust this? I'll need to unscrew it and look. Does it like set the depth or something?

Nope it doesn't set anything. It's a threaded insert. The insert's inner diameter is threaded. It's what allows the knob to be screwed onto the stick.

If the insert is loose inside the knob, the knob will be wobbly on the stick. The insert can still be screwed on to the stick very tightly, but the knob will be wobbly. Make sense?

Think so I'll need to more closely look at it which I haven't yet. When I screw it tight it "stops" (is tight) half a turn BEYOND being lined up. instead of being obviously lined up it would "point" to the passenger so I leave it loose to look correct. Hmmm are they engineered to actually stop and tighten exactly perfect??

Ok...So I got curious and just went and looked. There's no insert it's just threaded inside but it isn't as off as I made it sound. At fully "tight" it stops maybe pointing to about 1 o:clock guess I thought it was worse. No biggie won't lose any sleep over it I just keep it backed off to be straight.

If you shine a light inside, you'll see the white plastic coupler and Philips head screw (I think). But if you screw it all the way tight (1 o'clock in your case) and there's no "play" in it, then there's no need to tighten the screw.
