Hi, I'm new to the 4runner forum. :bananadance:. I need to have my seatbelt chime removed, taken out. Ive Watched several videos on YouTube .. Can never find the Correct one I don't want to do the turn your car on double tap on whatever hold your tongue out and double click on the seat belts and ...NO! I did find one video where you have to take out something from the inside door frame I believe. I am female and I know my cars I learn my cars I should say. I can pretty much do just your general things but I'm always up for learning new things & making it work. I would love your input please thank you

Get the Carista Obdii Bluetooth dongle from Amazon for $20. Download the Carista app on your phone. Sign up for the 1-week (or 1 month) free subscription and cancel before the free week (or month) is up (otherwise you'll be charged the subscription price).

Plug the obdii reader into your truck. Open the app on your phone. Connect. Turn off the seat belt chime (and make any other customizations you want- there's a bunch) and you're done.

Total cost $20 (or however much the BT dongle currently costs on amazon).

For me it was the door chimes and the circus noises every time I locked or unlocked the doors. Carista took care of it all.

It's an embedded safety feature don't think (may be wrong) it can be shut off from a you tube video. Either need the app as stated or maybe the dealer for probably a cost. Some garages may even have reservations about re-adjusting safety features today everything is about liability and accountability. Someone gets in an accident then sues the garage THEY had turn the chime off because it didn't remind them to use their seatbelt. :annoyed:

I have an override on mine to make the noise stop. When you sit down there’s a random strap on your left that has a metal piece hanging from it, I don’t know what it’s for but if you pull it over and jamb the metal thing into the buckle on your right the noise goes away completely.

When you do your next service tell your dealer to disable it. Mine did the 4 Runner and my wife's Highlander. No charge. The red warning light in the dash will still be on if the belt is not buckled, but you will not hear the noise.

It is a real plus when out in the wild getting in and out a lot to take pictures, etc.

Those damn seatbelts are just another one of those stupid nannys that will need to be fixed when it breaks. I like my 4Runners with 1940's tech.

My post was sarcastic. It was a small jab at those who think Safety Sense is the worst thing that could happen to the 4Runner.

Yes, because everyone who owe their lives to automatic braking have been texting and driving.

What the hell are cars doing passing a school bus with flashing lights? That's illegal in NM. Based on the narration and the color of the bus, I would guess some foreign country.

Hmmm I dunno was that a school bus or a regular "greyhound" type bus?

I think its just a regular bus. Looks like normal hazards and he pulled away before the kids crossed.

Kids need to learn to cross in front of the bus but it does look like another country so who knows. Didn't even have a cross walk.

It's a false dichotomy because automatic braking does not automatically lead to worse driving. There are other outcomes as well, like the video I posted above. The kid owes his life to automatic braking without the driver being distracted or at fault. Of course the kid made a stupid mistake by running out into the street, but did he deserve to pay with his life? I bet all of us have been in some pretty close calls before or even know people who weren't so lucky where automatic braking could have changed the outcome.
