I am hearing a rattle in my dash only when I am driving in my 2018 trd off-road premium
Could it be the speedometer cable or has anyone else had this issue.

Same issue. Still chasing it after three years. I posted a video on youtube and one of the comments said it was the driver side fender liner. Haven't looked into it yet.

What part of the dash do you hear it from? I’m getting the same noises while driving an I think I only hear it on the passenger side

I get too many rattles from my passenger side. Hard to tell if the source is my dash or windshield or door panel. I also get a crazy amount of plastic rattling around my radio/nav bezel. I have considered pulling the trim there and padding it up a bit. Just haven’t built up the courage. OP - you may check that corner trim piece outside at the bottom corner of your windshield. I had to replace one that rattled over bumps. You may just be able to snap it down if it’s come unclipped.

To test this I just gorilla taped the liners and clips to secure them. It ended up not being the source my rattle but using the tape was a simple test. Good luck.

My 15 tacoma had the rubber splash guard come unclipped when i ran my 0 guage power wire for the system i had, if flapped in the wind and clip would hit frame rail and took me months to figure out

Fender line flaps. The plastic rivets are doing it. I chased it for two years. I finally just yanked them off... No more chirping or rattling. Thank me later.

You are correct sir. The rubber flap and the plastic rivets were the culprit

I had the same issue with my engine splash guard. Rad Rubber Designs offers a thicker one, not a peep out of them.

I've still got my shields. I am probably going to use them as a template and get some thick black silicone sheets and make some replacements at some point.

I haven't had the the the noise from mine yet but my co-worker who has 2017 trail told me he removed his shields and the noise is gone. My noise comes from the 4 wheel drive shifter vibrating from time to time.

I believe i have the same issue, with the 4wd shift lever in the off-road edition rattling. It really has a good amount of vibration anytime the vehicle is running in nutral, 2wd, 4wd. Not sure if this is normal as my last vehicle had electronic shift 4wd. Did you end up resolving this issue?

I've been hearing a dull plastic/leather type squeak coming from around the passenger side dash speaker. It comes and goes. Thoughts?

Just replaced my splash guards with a set from yota liners I found on Amazon. Will drive tomorrow and update if it was the fix, but I'm 99% certain after taking out the old ones, it is.

Mine finally went away on it's own after a summer in the heat. I think that's all you really need. A few days parking in a hot sun soaked parking lot. At least that's my crazy theory. I bought in January last year and noticed it until about late May after the weather was more summer like.

I saw something that said it was this area causing the vibration noise. The two pieces of plastic molding meet right here and they rattle on some 4Runners. Someone cut up a thin plastic card and wedged in there and it went away. It was on the YouTube.

yes some had that plastic piece make noise.. but the inner plastic fenders do flop because of the loose plastic retainers..

Very glad I saw this post. I had this annoying tapping noise with windows up at 35-45. Sounded like from the roof or A-pillar, left side, as when I moved my head towards the window was more apparent. Sounded like the light tapping of roof strap ends tapping lightly against the roof, but straps were secure and thought maybe some of the wiring from the center console in the roof was the cause. If I didn't see this thread, I'd still be going mad. Some sticky electric tape as shown solved it temporarily. That top rivet is very sloppy as is the entire floppy shield.

I found the freaken irritating ass noise on my own. The stupid ass fender liner thingie. I saw the post where yota liners had a replacement on Amazon. GOOD LORD, stupid money. Ill just make mine from some thicker rubber using the stock piece as a template.

I'm actually glad you brought this up... I've also been having a faint rattle/squeak from my drivers side for a few weeks now, and I was thinking either the liner or there's something up the suspension. Haven't had much of a chance to look into it, but I'm thinking(and hoping) it's the exact same thing as yours.

Me too, 2016 TEP, faint rattle towards the driver's side windshield. I thought a coin had fallen down into a vent, but still don't know. Bummer thing about new cars is noticing all the new rattles as they appear.

Add me to the list! (2016 TEP) Ever so slight rattling noise on drivers side. At first I thought it was the speedometer cable. Thank you guys for your posts. I’m going to have a look at those rubber flaps in the wheel well ASAP.:hattip:

Toyota replaced mine under warranty and snugly attached it, instead of the loose fit that was flapping before. I had asked if they could refasten it snugly initially, but tech said appeared warped/misshapen and wanted to replace the flap and the 5 clips under warranty.

(solved!) My driver's side ticking noise was the end of a cable tie, under the dash, tapping against something. I trimmed off all the ends, moved the cabling a bit, and the noise is gone!

Hey Bodie any chance of a pic? Just in case my noise isn’t a flapping fender liner? :computercoffee:

Ended up taking mine to the dealer for a squeak/rattle on the driver side, because the Rad Rubber splash guards didn't fix the problem, and I thought it may have been something suspension related. All they did was "adjust the hood risers" and I haven't heard the rattle since. Never suspected the hood area, but luckily it was that simple.
