    BOUGHT IT! :)
I tend to research things to death, even mods before I own the thing I want to mod, the 4Runner was no different.
Finally found the right one at the right price over the weekend, 2016 Silver SR5 with 27k miles.
Now time to start ordering parts, and go broke. lol

I like it. The throttle response is great. I have been playing around with the setting and found, so far, that the City setting is the best for me. Just gives the pedal enough to get you moving. I tried Sport and it was a bit too touchy for me.

    Hi Guys.
FNG here so please forgive me if i'my interrupting. I have some advise on what I did to my 4runner today.
Ticker turned over 10,000 so I decided to change my different oil. Went great except for the usual stink of used gear oil. Looked in the pan and and got to see the glitter. Wasn't bad, just super fine bronze and the magnet caught quite a bit metal pearl. Pretty sure it's just normal break-in.
My point, good idea to change that at or about 10,000.
Should also consider taking track of how many miles you spend in 4x4 as to the front differential and the transfer case.
    Just a thought.

I changed mine at 80k for the first time. I'm off-road a whole lot. No issues. Just the dust on the magnet, which is most likely just break-in material. 10k is way too early.

Naw, it'the same as breaking in an engine. And according to what I saw, perfect timing. Won't have to change it for another 30,000. When the diff oil comes out black, you got sludge. Same as if you're not regular with engine oil.
Been turning wrenches for 40yrs or better. Pull a valve cover on motor and look at the build-up. Might be like that in the diff too. 80,000 is way to long. Chances are no problem but in the long run it pays off. Specially if you have a locker or limited slip.
Ultimately, I like fluids regular, just like me.

Changed my gear oil at 11K and it was pretty dark. Had quite a bit on the magnet and a silver swirl in the pan. Mobil 1 75-90 synthetic went in there and I'm glad it's done. Oil can never be too clean and can never be changed too often.

Agree and the same with engine oil. Brand doesn't matter and change when the manufacturer recommends.

The color doesn't matter. I got mine back from a lab and it was still in good shape and could have went longer if needed. You are just wasting money changing it too soon, or that often. And no, it isn't like breaking in an engine. The main reason you want to get break-in material out of an engine is because bearings and journals have a tighter tolerance, and you risk blocking oil passages. Oil flow is the main reason. I've built several engines, rear ends, transmissions... Some of you think to much about it. And every engine I have built produces north of 1k HP, so it isn't like my skill is limited to lawnmowers. Open your manual... Read what it says. Engineers and scientists actually found the answer for you.

On my 2010 Tacoma I've sent the oil to Blackstone labs and they recommended I go 12,500 miles between changes so that's what my current oci is. I use whatever brand oil i find on sale .

Whatever floats your boat but that'll never happen with my vehicles. First was at 2K, 2nd at 5K, 3rd at 10K, 4th at 15K, and that's where I am now. 5K is what I will do as long as I own my 5th gen which will hopefully be MANY years. It's a 2016, brought it home January 2017, just rolled 15K miles.

Yes, for 90k miles. Oil samples come back great. Blackstone has me able to go 15k miles based on their results. I do 10 though. If I did it any sooner I would be changing my oil constantly.

Yah, ultimately it's whatever you like and I'll agree to dis agree. Did my first oil change at 500 then a 1000 and now every 3000. I'll do both diffs and the transfer case at 30,000. Don't have enough time go over all my builds and really don't care to.

Same here doxidad. Really like mine set at City +3. Found the sport to be to sensitive even down to -4.
Turned it off and tucked it away when I took to dealer for free oil change...didn't need em gettin all nosy...missed the responsiveness and couldn't wait to set it back to City+3. LOL

14 mustangs of different years, from 1993 to 2016. I have my own tech shop and Dynojet 224xlc. 3 supras. 1 Honda engine that was the first (K20) 2.0 to make over 350hp on pump gas, NA. That was two weeks of loudness that left me partially def in one ear. 1 2014 CTSV, 1 2006 C6CZo6. 2 n54 powered BMW's and 3 EVO X. Probably more, but that is what I can think of. I've tuned and dynoed over 500 cars.

Sounds like a lot of fun had.
    To rich for my blood.
Started at 4 racing motorcyces. Moved on to flat track and then carts. Found myself setting the valves on a 912 and exploded from there VWs , rails sprint cars. Moved up to bigblocks, the neughbor down the street built top fuel drag boats. Can't count mine either but always wanted a real shop
Sorry to spar with ya just different approaches.
