I'm envisioning using this for snow and sand mostly...probably won't be doing mud or rocks...that being said:

    2"x 20'
    2" x 30'
    3" x 30'

after some initial searching, opinions vary due to weight of tow vehicle and/or stuck vehicle and that the larger capacity straps won't fully employ the stretch portion, almost negating the process. Hoping for a little more clarity.

What would be best? 2012 TE. not carrying any other real weight like aftermarket bumpers, etc...

I'm a n00b, thanks in advance for any help offered.

haha its the internet's way of saying someone is new to something. using zeroes instead of o is for emphasis that the person doesn't know what they are talking about. i was basically making fun of myself is all.

I have a 2"x30' strap, 8' tree saver, Smittybilt snatch block, and a set of foldup traction mats. I also have an army shovel, small axe and a winch.

I have an X-Bull 15,000 lb winch and the X-Bull winch recovery kit (23 pcs) along with a 2.00" x 30 ft long snatch recovery strap, a 6 ft tree saver and an extra pair of shackles. The only thing missing are a set of soft shackles for stringing the snatch straps together to use as winch line extensions in a safer manner than using the steel ones.

A long time ago (like mid 80's) it was the first time I used my 2.00" x 30 ft snatch strap to extract a super over loaded 2wd Chevy Suburban from a 150 foot long silt bed out near Ocotillo Wells and Split Mountain in CA. This poor guy had been there for a full day and a half and was pretty desperate. There was a Honda 90 ATC jammed in the back and a huge black water tank that was leaking all over the roof. It was turning the silt to mud all over the windows and roof of the Suburban. This tank must have been close to 100 gallons because it was longer than a 55 gallon drum but was half collapsed and was strapped to the roof rack with a million yards of twine and two motorcycle tie towns. It was quite a sight and I figured at 8lb/gallon it must have been close to 300 lbs of water he had up there.

The extraction was taken on using my 1982 Toyota 4X4 Deluxe Long bed pickup. One tug with about 5-10 ft of slack in the strap with 2nd gear in 4 low is all it took and I was able to drag him out through the length of the silt bed. It must have taken 15 minutes for the silt to settle as there was not a hint of any breeze at all and it was mid day and very hot.
