I'm installing a Crestone rack on my 2024 4Runner and wanted to confirm that I'm good to go regarding the installation of the rubber feet/spacers. I didn't realize Sherpa is closed on Fridays so I'm hoping someone here with a Crestone rack can weigh in so I can get this installed today.

With the rubber feet installed (see attached pics), there is now a bowl around each rubber foot where water will collect. There is a small gap along the long side of each foot and between 1/4" and 3/8" between the ends of each foot and the existing weatherstripping. Isn't water going to sit in this cavity or does it drain out through the channels under the weatherstripping? If it is supposed to drain out through the channels, do you recommend making sure the area around each foot is kept clear of dirt/debris so the channels don't become clogged? Just want to make sure I haven't missed something before proceeding with the rest of the install.

It's correct. I did put some clear silicone under that rubber base for extra weather proofing.. but Sherpa says it's not required.

I wouldn't worry about water collecting in the channel.

When I installed my (Frontrunner) rack, I did the thing and used clear silicone caulk under and around a similar looking spacer. No moisture to pool up against the fastener locations.

I installed my Crestone last weekend and had the same concerns. It is as intended and I have not heard of anyone having issues. FWIW, I did not use silicone.

I did use silicone but that was just for peace of mind. You are doing it correctly. It will squish some when you crank down on it, don't forget. Not a drop of water has gotten through mine. Great system.

6+ years with the Sherpa and not one problem with leaks. No silicone and followed the instructions per Sherpa. This in 10 degree ice storm and 125 degree Death Valley trips.

    Same. 5+ years

i had the original crestone design and my adjustable front legs sheared while on Red Cone last year. They said to stop by the shop and they’ll replace the brackets… they ended up replacing my whole rack, free of charge. Amazing customer service

Same gaps on mine. I bought some of the oem roof strips and cut them to fill in the gaps..probably not needed but just for my own sanity/peace of mind.
