IMG_2852.jpg I hit 5k miles so time to rotate tires . After lifting it I happen to look underneath and see these two brackets sticking out . Wasn’t there some kind of plate there or something similar ?
And just what happened to it ? This 4Runner has never been in for service anywhere.

It's missing the entire rear skid plate.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm an idiot. That is the "rear" skid plate. I was thinking the stock 2-piece covers extended farther back. OP: your 4Runner isn't missing anything. Apologies.

Adamant is correct, that is an aftermarket skid plate, but part of it is missing. I believe Toyota skid plates are generally one piece.

The Limited has a plastic fairing there for aerodynamics.

This is a 2024 OR that I bought new right off the transport truck in the dealers parking lot . Had 4 miles on it .Nobody has touched it and it’s all stock . So does someone have a pic on what’s supposed to be there ?

^Nothing is supposed to be there for your trim.

Picture of fairing on 4th gen Limited. It's to smooth the airflow over the low hanging transfer case crossmember

The Limited has various aerodynamic bits and street tires to make up for the fuel economy penalty of the AWD system.

Interesting, I'm on my 8th 4runner and none of the skid plates looked like that. My Pro has the 1 piece aluminum plate, maybe someone can post a picture of another OR.

No apology needed. I thank you for replying. I feel like an idiot for just now noticing it and this isn’t my first 5 gen .
Maybe I’ll cover that bare tranny pan with a RCI trans skid .

OP here and I figured it out . We have a 2020 GX460 . Even though the GX is a V8 Toyota uses the same engine skid . But on the GX they put a thick plastic plate bolted on those tabs . I have more time under the GX than I do our 24 OR so I was use to seeing the plate .
    Thanks all who replied.

Yeah just an air diverter for the full time 4wd case for the Limited.

I suppose if it bothers you you could get the GX piece and bolt it on...
