I'm not totally against the hybrid system, maybe if they could put the electronic motors on the front wheels so that full steering range on asphalt were maintained, that could be a really big plus.

The trend on their other models has been to use the hybrid as the rear wheel power for the four-wheel drive models (like the Sienna, RX450H...)

My big objection is putting turbos with their low tension piston rings on undersized engines.

Where are you located? Let me guess, the rust belt

A few weeks ago, Toyota Escondido in California had nothing but trucks and 4Runners (plus 3 Prius off to the side) on their main lot.

At that time, they also had a couple of dozen bare bones super ice cap white Tacomas for a fleet purchase.

As an aside, at least here in Southern California, even sold models show up on the website. It's the way they use to bait people into contacting the dealership. My soon to arrive car has been on the website since it was allocated. The allocations list the expected arrival time which I'm sure is a good sales tool to kind of let people know they need to commit early or other people will get them.

I would otherwise say perhaps the GX550 is still the answer, but two major problems remain, namely we have no idea if the 3.4L Turbo 6 is trust worthy yet, and Toyota has been throttling production of the GX since well before the tariff issue came out.

Those who are familiar with the area would know how strange it is when Toyota Escondido can't sell 4runners.

My in-laws are from north county so I am familiar with the area, with the desert and mountains so nearby, Tacos and 4Rs should be flying off the shelf.

Toyota Escondido has stopped doing all the big markups and adjustments on the slow moving vehicles. They're just making up the difference with the more popular cars. The problem for the Toyota dealerships around here... Most of them do idiotic markups. Whether they are market adjustments or $2,000 1-year ceramic coating jobs.

Secondly, gas is twice as expensive here as it is in most parts of the country. $4.90±. Costco $4.49⁹ ($2.45⁹ at a Shell in Mobile Alabama).

Some fool would be wise to make an offer.

Although, I must wonder who bought it only to sell it to a dealership. Private party would have made them a lot more money.

It's pretty common with the TRD Pros. I live in an area where there's a few people who will buy a TRD and resell it. My guess is that they bought it, towed it or lived close to the dealership for the express purpose of reselling it.

From this photo out of here

    https://www.mbzno.com/inventory/use...d-pro-4wd-4d-sport-utility-jtelu5jr1p6158720/

[IMG]looks like the tags that hang from the right side wiper stalk is still there, and also the seat covers are still on. If I had to guess, some dealer held onto it for too long and sold it via auction when their markup kept people from buying it.

Maybe I missed it but no VIN is listed so I bet if there was a vehicle history report, it would show the unit as a corporate vehicle or something to get off their books and sold without a personal buyer ever taking delivery.

A car is "one owner" if it goes into a corporate fleet, that's why ex-Rentals are always listed as "Carfax One Owner!!!".

That seems like a dumb way to tie up a bunch of money for two years to make a small profit.

60k over 2 years at 4.5% in a HYSA would make one over 5k before taxes. Way easier than paying for reg, insurance, and upkeep for a vehicle.

Yes. Apparently it is standard on the Pro and Trail Hunter but not available at all on OR or ORP according to their website specs page, so it is a major reversal from the 5th gen where the OR and ORP had option of KDSS but not the Pro.

People do stuff that's not very efficient all the time. Minus a very small minority, Uber, Lyft and DoorDash drivers are basically doing cash flow. When you take into account all the maintenance and other related expenses, it is very rare that there's actually value in those investments either.
