Shocks serviced

Can someone please educate me. I’ve read in several posts that the “high end” shocks need to be serviced every 50k miles. What does that mean? You have to take them off and send them some? What do you do with your rig while they’re being serviced?

 

Yes, just like mountain bike suspension forks and shocks there is a service interval for high end automotive shocks.

One of the reasons to have two mountain bikes.

 

When I had Icons, the shop that does the rebuilding put you on a schedule. I brought them in on a Tuesday and they were done Wednesday. Truck was down for about 48 hours basically. I got a 100K out of them before one leaked. Cost to rebuild was about $450 for the pair.

 

IMO, if you are buying "high end" shocks and not using them to their potential. You are a fool with your own money.

 

agreed. Go Bilstein and never look back or worry about “servicing” them.

It’s a great question and one I have often wondered. The OEM replacement shocks for the Pro are not cheap. I had the shocks on my Raptor sent off to Fox for a rebuild but I had already replaced them so the truck was never down and now I have a rebuilt set in my garage. Not sure what the plan is for the 4Runner.
